yes it did - "Ashtyn Davis has been targeted 14 times so far in 2021. He has allowed 13 receptions for 176 yards and 2 touchdowns, including 103 yards after the catch. He has 0 INT, 0 pass breakups and 3 missed tackles." 13-14 176 2TD 0INT is a perfect QB rating.
Covid WAS a big deal. Scouts could NOT attend a SINGLE game to watch these guys in person, or to see another player stand out who wasn't even on the list. Scouts had to rely on TV coverage (which only shows about 10% if the field). If Revis was coming out in 2020, he probably wouldn't be on any GMs short list since no one threw to his side, so he never made the highlights. Scouts couldn't even visit the campus to talk to HCs, assistants, other players, etc. Of course all the players eventually got drafted, it's just that GMs had little to go one. Not one single visit from any player to Jet One Drive. Not one. Not one visit by the GM to any show days.
I’m sure the scouts and front offices had some better video tape on the bigger prospects then just TV coverage. This isn’t 1987.
again 0 context a to the stat and he's let up about the same as the top CB in the NFL. What about all the snaps where he covered well and wasn't thrown at? how much time was there before the throw? was he supposed to have help? I watch film not stats because stats without context don't mean a whole lot. I'm gonna break down the defense on the indy game with a focus on ashtyn. I did the 1st drive already. here is the thread. https://forums.theganggreen.com/thr...own-what-went-wrong-and-focus-on-davis.96512/ Ashtyn made no mistakes or had any cause to the D sucking on that 1st drive. and actually made a few nice plays that were ruined by other teammates.
So seeing guys play in person doesn't matter? Talking to coaches and other players doesn't matter? Going to prodays and standing next to these guys doesn't matter? Bringing guys in for a workout doesn't matter? Taking top prospects out to dinner for a face to face doesn't matter? So if you were an owner, you'd save $ by having your scouts stay home and watch TV? Save $ by not hosting any players? Got it. I thought all that stuff was important.
Seriously? You make Morestead sound like a JAG punter who has never hung on with a team for long instead of the former All Pro he has been. Mann is better than serviceable.
I'm certain that NFL teams were able to get video of the games and break them down by position, and that they called/texted/emailed player's coaches and got information. They didn't go on as little as you make it seem. Still, they had less in person to go on, and that is important.
they woulda seen them play in person. Covid didn’t hit US shores until March 2020, after their seasons and after their combine even it affected 2021 draft more than 2020 but both were affected to a degree, so your point is valid to some degree but - hey there will still be winners and losers under these challenges and Joe Douglas was paid a lot of money to be a winner
Moorestead was available, and actually punted better than Mann. Moorestead is accomplished punter for many years. My point is Mann is middle of pack punter, and we picked up punter from street that punted better than he ever did. Mann is starting punter, but in the 15-20 range in the league. That’s all I meant. My only comment was that the game footage was not limited. I don’t know what your rabbling on about with saving money on scouts traveling and stuff. Surely teams had a tougher time than normal. But amazingly enough, teams still walked away with good drafts.
An interesting thread. Yeah, the 2020 draft lass might be awful compared to other teams' drafts, but not for the Jets. Sure, there's the epic 2014 draft class, but we don't need to go too far to see ineptitude: of the 2019 draft class, only Quinnen and Edoga remain on the Jets.
