The scenario you gave is a very very specific and realistically unlikely scenario….but IF that happens, and ZW develops under his mentor/hero well enough to pass him on the chart, with the Jets fans cheering his name… do you really think he’d be interested in going elsewhere? Danny Dimes is still in NYC despite them not picking up his 5th year option.

Coming up with a very specific scenario and then projecting ZWs actions based on that very specific scenario seems like a good way to remain in constant stress and outrage.

On the flip side, what if TLaw decides he wants to live in NYC and refuses to play another snap for Jax waiting to be a FA so he can sign with the Jets?

We can play “what if” all day long…..

Gun to head: Yay. Just maybe this Aaron Rodgers apprentice/relationship helps immensely.

He would need to come in for a game or two and look competent. He’s a practice warrior. When the other side is trying ti kill him he gets flustered

The only way Wilson plays is if Rodgers gets hurt or he plays in meaningless garbage time. Otherwise, Zach will never take a meaningful snap these next 2 years as long as Rodgers is healthy.

Dude's knowledge of college players was amazing yet sadly bizarre..... unless it's your actual job, you shouldnt know the stats of a backup corner at some random Jucco school

Forget about Zach's option, you have to make the switch so we aren't giving the Packers a top 10 pick in the 2024 draft. (Of course, the coaching staff will do nothing of the sort because they know they'll get fired barring a miracle playoff run, so they won't care about the 2024 pick.)

If the Jets get off to a 1-5 start Saleh and JD need to get fired. Then you bring in a caretaker who plays Zach to avoid the spectacle of the Rodgers deal giving the Packers the #1 overall pick in a year with some franchise options coming out.

For sure. Hence we can’t pick up his option.

He can learn until his heart's content under Rodgers, but Zach's remedial fundamentals will be difficult to improve upon without significant play time.

If you want to salvage Zach Wilson you need to go back to a more fundamental offensive system.

I'd use an Erhardt-Perkins heavy on the run but you can make the argument he'd be better suited in an Air Coryell.

The point is that he is not well suited for a modern offense that requires 100% attention to every little detail and asks the QB to make many reads pre and post snap.

I totally understand why mngt keeps praising Zach and I don't have a problem with that. I also understand why he is still on the roster. What I don't understand is why they never got a legit backup in the offseason or why they don't get a QB right now who can play.

He's dead weight. Many say that he just has to master the mental aspect of the QB position, but he hasn't progressed in that area and he may never overcome the mental aspect of the QB position. MANY QBs that have all the other skills to be a NFL QB don't make it b/c they can't master the mental aspect. It's one of the necessary skills to be a QB in the NFL and he doesn't have it and isn't making progress in his 3rd season. All indications are that he is a good guy and works hard. He just doesn't have that one crucial skill to be a NFL QB. Why the Jets continue to play him and not sign a QB that can play is a mystery to me.

Why is this even a question at this point? He can't play QB in the NFL. It's obvious.
