He hasn't Buttfumbled, gotten punched out by a teammate, or contracted mono. Though he did have a close encounter of the MILF kind.
Reminding me of Brett Farve with his ability to make up for his mistakes. With Farve it was interceptions, with Zach it has been sacks and fumbles. It is so obvious how much he has improved in his accuracy overall. Do people not remember that the short miss to Breece was EVERY short pass the last two years? Some of those throws with pressure in his face are amazing. The Chargers have the worst pass defense by a solid run defense, so next week should be interesting.
Can we agree then on there being no excuses Monday night? Weather looks fine. Chargers aint the best D. Wilson should go out there and perform well
Agreed, he will have to make quick decisions (which may actually be better for him) if the line isn't blocking well, but this is probably his best opportunity to shine all year so far.
I do expect a solid-good game from Zach on Monday night. Just to be clear, everyone shouldn't read that as, "I expect Zach to have 300+ yards passing and 4 TDs", but I do expect a competent game from Zach. 65%+ comp %, 250+ yards, and 2+ TDs, and 1INT or fewer, is a reasonable expectation IMO. Especially against a Chargers D that is 31st in total yards allowed (390.9ypg) and 32nd in passing yards allowed (297.4 ypg).
Wilson has only done that once in NFL career (29 games) Vs. Kansas City earlier this year is the only game he's ever had like that. Although Tennessee his rookie year was close. That's it. I do agree though, that is a reasonable expectation for Monday night
Against SD at home in good weather I expect 300yds and 2-3 TD’s. That’s a fair expectation of a quality starting QB today if we want to win this game against a high powered SD offense. What we expect of Zach given how bad he’s been should not affect what we expect in terms of competency from the position. I didn’t bash the hell out of him for a bad game in a downpour against a tough D in the Giants (especially with the win) because I wouldn’t expect any QB to put up great number in that game. But against SD at home in nice weather he will have plenty of open looks, so 60% comp, 300yds or so, 2-3 TD’s, and 1 INT is about what I expect from a competent QB. He needs to start showing this kind of competency.
Did you not watch khalil mack throw up a 6 sack performance a month ago? They have a deadly rush combo of mack and bosa, if zach can't get any time we are probably screwed. They also have a high powered offense that'll be hard to stop. we'll need to be more aggressive to keep pace.
they are weak in the back end and inconsistent overall but if we can't contain mack and bosa none of that will matter teams also have to throw more against them because the chargers can put up points in a hurry
not an excuse but you can't ignore they have 2 top tier edge rushers and we have a pretty beat up o-line, especially if tippman can't play. I'm just being fair, you are ignoring the fact that he could get pressured up the ass. we'll have to wait and see how the game shakes out but your already teeing up to be negative
Hopefully Hackett is developing a gameplan to exploit that. A quick passing game both plays to Zach's strengths and minimizes the opposing D's greatest strength (Mack and Bosa) and our biggest weakness (IOL). This is just as big of a game for Hackett as it is for Zach IMO. Need to see some competency from our QB and our OC on Monday night.
not teeing up the negative at all. At home, nice night, facing the league’s worst pass defense. I am optimistic
Seriously…this should be a very good game from him, and I hope we don’t have to have yet another 20 page thread on why he wasn’t THAT bad after all, on a second look, with the All 22 type discussion. At some point, he’s going to have to have some objectively good games, and he’s not the only QB to face pressure, or to have drops, or to have a bad OC, or a bad OL, or all the other reasons why it’s ok for him to be 56% passing for 165 yards and no TDs. Enough already…here’s a defense that has two great pass rushers, yet despite that, they’re one of the worst pass defenses in the league so far. That means they are weak despite those guys, and other teams have somehow miraculously figured out how to pass on them even with those two guys. So put on your big boy pants and let’s get it done! I agree with the above standards…he needs to have over 250 yards passing…would love to see 300 but shit, I have more fingers on one hand than Zach has 300 yard games in 2.5 years, so I’m not getting any delusions here…but 250 is a reasonable target, more TDs than picks, and would love to see 2 or more TDs, and his completion rate should be over 60% for SURE, and really a good expectation would be like 65%. If he can do that, it’ll most likely be the best game of his career… Home…good weather…weak pass defense…let’s GO!
I agree but I have a feeling we should get ready for a heavy dose of run, run, short pass, punt. I hope morestead is ready lol. but jokes aside I hope i'm wrong. herbert is a gun slinger and they have a loaded offense and can put up points in a hurry. we need to score to win It's not static though. like when denver let up 70 to miami so they expected every team to shred them, meanwhile they just held KC and mahomes to 9 pts. any given sunday. their D has talent, they are just inconsistent and their coaching is poor.
