The one where Conklin is breaking wide open into the end zone with no one within 10 yards of him? Right in front of Zach's face? And he can't see it? I'm sorry but what would you call it?
@Acad23 Maybe we were thinking of the wrong plays Damnit. Forgot we can't post Twitter links 11:32, 2nd & Goal: This pay might have been Zach's biggest miss of the game. Jets come out in 21 personnel again, offset I formation. GW runs a drag from the bottom of the screen and looking at it from this angle, it just looks like a high pass to GW that wasn't a terrible throw but not a perfect one. However, looking at the All-22 angle, he misses Conklin for a wide open TD on this play. All-22 angle here. Awful read by Zach. This should've been a lay-up TD to Conklin. (2-3, 20 yards) This play
Yeah... Zach fuckered that up in a few ways. It was disappointing... awful even. But "freaking brutal" has to be saved for situations that are actually freaking brutal. And probably saved for games that we lose...
I have to disagree. Now maybe Zach read the D wrong or went through the wrong progressions, but Zach's 1st readwas a receiver in the left corner of the EZ (Lazard?), GW was Zach's 2nd read, and GW was open. When your top WR is open, why would you look for anyone else, especially considering that Zach had been under pressure a lot in the game? I don't recall where in the game this was and if it was before or after the sacks, but he had several reasons for trying to get the ball out quickly. It's unfortunate that he didn't see Conklin before he threw to GW, but even if he had, what's to say that Conklin wouldn't have dropped the ball (it wouldn't have been his first dropped ball with the Jets in the EZ), that a DB might have broken on the pass and either knocked it down or intercepted it, or that Zach wouldn't have been sacked or had his pass batted down before he could pivot and throw to Conklin?
This is pure non sense. I'm sorry. He wasn't under pressure on that play. Conklin is literally right in front on him breaking free. There is no one in the end zone covering him. It's a terrible read.
As I said, Zach may have read the D incorrectly. We can't know that for certain. By the time Conklin was open, Zach had already committed to throwing the ball to GW. It's easy for fans to sit back and criticize when we haven't walked a mile in his shoes. I don't recall how far he was from his OL on the right, but it really doesn't matter that there was no pressure on that play. There had been plenty of pressure on other plays in that game, and Zach knew that he couldn't take a sack there, and his protection could have broken down at any second.. Also, when he's been coached to get the ball out quickly, that's what he was focused on doing. We'll just have to agree to disagree. The only thing that is pure nonsense is your initial post. It is way over the top.
We really don't know that for sure... there's is a possibility he could've been seduced by a woman his age as well. Maybe, maybe not. I was not there, but it's definitely a probability. I mean he is the QB, and a good looking high school kid. He has a penis, so maybe he didn't read the play correctly. We don't know his upbringing. He was probably trained to respect the wishes of his elders. Maybe he has an oedipal complex. This is very hard to overcome, so a young man could be considered the victim in this scenario.... maybe he was overpowered by an older amazonian woman. Maybe he just likes roast beef. Either way, it definitely was someone else's fault!
That's the best part. He has watched every shred of media available on young Zach except the stuff that matters.
It was funny too b/c after the Dallas and Pats game he vanished. Only to return after zach's last 2 performances.
Fun Fact: Tearing down other posters doesn't make you right. It sure doesn't add to the quality of discussion here, or enlighten anyone. But I guess if it makes you feel smarter and better, that's really all that matters.
We broke down that play in depth in the other including Quincy. Not a bad read going to GW the issue was staying on Lazzard a touch to long then throwing a rocket ball o GW. The reason Conklin was so open was that the safety was reading Zachs eyes and broke on GW quickly. Not Zachs best play but far from brutal. Ps Everything looks easy in slow motion and free frame.
