Loved that place. Can't take my 12 and 8 year old. Unfortunately, they've followed dad down the Jet rabbit hole. Do you go to the one on Roswell Road in Marietta?
Can you quantify or explain the bold? While he certainly didn't set the world on fire, he was far from "sucks ass".
Yeah that's the one. Occasionally I go, but it's a dive, the food is not great. The beer is fine and the bartenders are nice though.
Oh come on We all get you have a high opinion of Zach, but you can’t make that kind of statement and keep credibility. His stat line was terrible….completed what, one third of his passes? Less than 200 yards? 1 TD to 3 Picks? In what world is that an acceptable stat line for a QB? I get the “you need context” argument, or the “what QB would’ve done anything behind that line” argument, but honestly, I think many other QBs would have done better behind that line. Burrow would’ve done better. Hurts would’ve done better. Mahomes SURELY would’ve done better. Granted those are all top tier QBs, but I’d bet other QBs outside those top tier guys could’ve done better than that crappy stat line. Seriously? Look, when I watched the game, I didn’t feel he had a terrible first half. But if we want to throw out his 4th quarter meltdown under the logic that the game was way out of hand by that point and it didn’t matter, I would counter that hey, in garbage time, don’t a lot of teams and QBs rack up meaningless yards and a few meaningless scores? In garbage time, Zach melted down worse than he played the rest of the game. but yeah, he’s not the only reason we lost. We lost because we didn’t put the ball in the hands of our playmakers like Hall, we lost because the OL was total shit (like we didn’t know who Parsons was?), and we lost because our so called defense let Dallas walk up and down the field with fucking ease. All true. But all those things can be true. Our OL sucked. Our D sucked. Our OC sucked. Zach sucked. Those are all true statements here. Look…I am typically a positive person, and I hope so badly that Zach can somehow improve…I’m not a hater, and I would LOVE for you and NC to come back to all of us here by year end and say, “See? I told you so!” and if you look at it all honestly, sure he’s had a bad hand with the OC and the OL. But he’s been bottom of the league bad. Historically bad compared to other QB busts like Jamarcus Russell and Josh Rosen. That level bad. The odds are way against him… And having to squint and look for some tiny indications of improvement, while good, aren’t nearly enough. First it was, well, he came in cold in week 1 when he didn’t expect to play. Now it’s well our OL and OC and game plan all sucked. Sure ok…all true…but he hasn’t even put up AVERAGE QB numbers. NE will be a great test. A team that is not as talented as the first two we played, but a team that has absolutely owned him and is desperate and has owned us. If he shows up and wins the game and plays great…hallelujah. But if he puts up a stat line like his career average yet again…then what will the excuse be? Will we blame Hacket again? Or put another way…if Zach was playing on any other team as a 2nd round pick, would ANYBODY here be saying “hey man, let’s trade for THAT guy! He’s really good, just in a bad situation!” No…we’d be saying look at that fucking bust. So we’re stuck with him, and we have to hope he improves to at least an average level QB…let’s say midpack QB rating, 60% completion rate, 225 yards per game, and no worse than 1-1 TD-Int ratio. If he can do that, I will gladly accept it and say ok, there’s hope here, and maybe after another year of sitting behind AR (like the plan was for this year), he can compete. I’m hoping, but I’m skeptical.
Daniel Jones did worse against the Cowboys. Franchise QB with $150M+ contracts. 12-28. 104 yds. 0 TD 2 INTs.
Yeah…and he got shut out too…no doubt a shit day. But so what…doesn’t that just mean they BOTH had shitty days? I guess if Dallas holds every other QB to those kinds of stats then that will absolve Zach of sucking… I’m not saying he was the reason we lost…and he actually didn’t look terrible in the first half, but come on, those stat lines are both crappy and they both suck. The thing with Zach is that his stat line is actually pretty much in line with his career stat line…maybe a bit worse, but its not like it’s a freaking wild outlier that is SO far below his career ratings…so it’s hard to just excuse it away
He didn't throw his first INT until halfway through the 3rd qtr, and it was already 27-10 out of reach, and none of those altered the game...unlike Sauce's dropped potential pick 6 and the way the defense got pushed around all day. If you want to say he wasn't good enough, fine, but "Sucks"? I can't agree with that take.
Zach didn't get shut out. He did throw a TD and moved the team in position to score a FG. I'm not a Zach fan at all - but we're overreacting because Cowboys might just be a great Defensive team.
I think everyone already knows Zach will not show out against a great defense. Even Zach knows that. The gameplan was to play good defense and force field goals, which we did for the most part. The JFM hit/bad call change the complexity of the game. Additionally our defense didn't capitalize on the turnover opportunities. Sauce pick, and the Lamb fumble. Plus our offense gave away the ball with the Cook fumble. Everyone is complaining but Cowboys are darn good this year – The Jets are WIP with and without Rodgers. They will win more games with Zach. It wasn't that bad if you watched the Giants get mauled by the same team 40-0 a week earlier.
Can you acknowledge that there's a middle ground between "Zach is a FQB" and "Zach sucks"? Because what he did against the Cowboys, while not great or even very good, did not "suck". All 3 INTs were when the game was out of reach, and still but for a couple of tipped or dropped balls he might've brought them back or at least made it close. Especially the throw to GW, who probably was the victim - again - of PI, and damn good play by the Safety. If Garrett holds onto that it's 1st and goal, and maybe they still don't win but it completely changes the stat line. And again, I scratch my head how you and others can admit that the OL sucks, that the play calling sucked, that his supporting cast made key mistakes, and because he didn't overcome all of that "He sucked". SMH.
No … I meant that Jones got shut out Yah…looks like Zach did better against the Cowboys than Jones did. But my point was that both QBs sucked against that D
Absolutely I can agree that there is a HUGE range between FQB and sucks. No argument from me there. I see Zach as WAY closer to the “sucks” side of the scale than the FQB side of the scale. I guess I feel that those things can ALL be true. The OL sucked against Dallas. The play calling sucked against Dallas. And Zach sucked against Dallas. Sorry…12 of 27 passing for 150 yards or whatever it was and 1-3 TD-Int ratio sucks. It just does. It’s objective. Are there reasons? Sure…the whole team sucked. We played a legit Super Bowl contender on the road on a short week after a Monday night game and the shock of losing the supposed savior QB. It happens. I get it. I just don’t excuse away his poor play because everyone else played poorly too. A better QB would have done better. He’s not the first QB to have to play behind a bad OL…he’s not the first QB to have receivers drop balls on him, etc. He needs to be better…and yup I know you say that too…but I just don’t absolve him of poor play because others played poorly too…he’s the QB, and a highly touted and drafted one at that…he needs to rise above. But last week’s stat line looks very much in line with his career stat line, and in fact it’s maybe a bit worse overall. How many games does he get to show he can be good? It’s been 25. Do we need 30? 40? 50? We have him this year without any other options so far so I guess we’ll get to what, 40 games if he plays the full year? When is the time to stop saying “yeah but the OL” or “Yeah but the OC” or “yeah but the drops” or “yeah but the tipped balls”, and on and on. At some point you call a spade a spade. I get you’re not there yet, many others are. I don’t think he will ever be a FQB…he wouldn’t be the first guy with a great arm to fail at QB…but we’ll see. Looks like he gets another year to show what he can do, and so I’ll root for him, and I hope he defies the odds and makes it. Time will tell.
It's very easy to use your eyes and conclude that the kid just Isn't a good NFL QB. There Is plenty of evidence to point to when It comes to this topic. Far less good. FAR FAR, less good to point at. All of those things can be true, but they are just excuses In the overall big picture of his career. True FQB don't have career numbers like Zach Wilson. Which Is why It's hard to conclude anything other than he sucks as a starting NFL QB. I mean. Point to the FQB that has the same numbers as Zach Wilson. In his first three years? I can't find anyone remotely comparable. Zach Wilson Isn't the answer. ..and If he's not the answer, then that probably means he just sucks at his job. It happens. At least he's rich now. Silver lining. Maybe he finds a way to be a decent backup. Nothing suggests he Is the answer. Nothing.
if were gonna tier QB i'd imagine it would be S -tier (elite) Mahomes allen burrow herbert hurts rodgers jackson A tier (very good) Dak cousins tua Stafford B Tier (solid) Jimmy G Lawerance Purdy Murray Goff Carr C Tier (below average) Daniel Jones Mac Jones Russ Wilson D tier (stopgap/journeymen) Tannehill Mayfield F tier (bad) Fields Pickett Zach Watson Unranked (too soon) richardson Stroud Young I'm probably missing a few but thats about how the tiers would work
I could argue a few of those slots... Baker is playing well this season... better than Carr in fact. Purdy deserves to be positioned in the A tier. It's still early... but Burrow looks like crap. Jimmy G. is under-rated.
i'm not basing off 2 games but basing off their careers. Purdy isn't a-tier at all. he'd suck on many teams. he's smart and in a great position but not an A-tier player. he's like a low budget chad pennington. He's just in the perfect system for his skill set and surrounded by a ton of talent. Baker is playing well 2 games in but he's in year 6 and on his 3rd team already. we already know what he is. Burrow has looked awful this year but he's still been a pro bowler ever since a rookie I don't think jimmy g is underrated. he's solid but never been great
He's getting back to where he was, plus learning and improving on some things. He regressed badly under MLF and lost confidence. He's not a finished product. I think if he hadn't played until the end of the season, we all would have seen a much different, a much better Zach. He's going to have to learn on the fly now, and as a result will probably not progress at the same rate that he did during TC.
