LOL. how does Philly know JD's taking Wilson when JD doesn't even know. Hadn't even been to his proday. Hasn't been to Fields yet. Lots of stones left to look under.

I love how you think there's a brotherhood of GMs who share their plans with each other you know, just because they're bros and all.

The hell are you talking about? The Jets traded up for the 3rd overall pick in March 2018, more than a full month before the draft.

And it didn't come out until draft day that the Browns were going to take Mayfield.

Also to add to the "Douglas has decided who he's taking already," crowd - why would he reveal who he's taking before Wilson's pro day even started and Fields hasn't even had his.

I don't think the 49ers know anything other than that they're guaranteed to get one of the two.

It seems pretty clear to me that 1 to 4 are going to be QB. I don't know which ones but my feeling is the one with the most upside. My gut feeling:
    1) Lawrence
    2) Wilson
    3) Lance or Fields
    4) Fields or Lance

Then maybe another team will try to jump in front of Carolina for Mac Jones? Or he drops a bit further.

Disclaimer I am not saying the Jets will make the pick at 2nd. I think a trade down is still very possible but the market for the QBs is now through the roof.

I could still see the Jets trading away the pick to the Panthers for a massive haul or even Atlanta if they really like a specific QB and want to make sure they get him.

Sometimes you can just connect the dots in the NFL. This has been the rumor for months. Wilson kept being connected to the Jets. The 49ers gave up a huge haul to move up to #3 because moving up to #1 was not as option (Lawrence to Jags) and clearly moving up to #2 was not an option with the Jets as they are taking a QB.

And @Jonathan_Vilma, Joe Douglas absolutely knows who he is picking by now. It would not be wise to make your decisions based on Pro Days. They are just for confirmation. If he liked Wilson more, yesterday was the icing on the cake. Justin Fields seems to have lost a lot of momentum in recent months, where Wilson has gained it. It's fair to believe the Jets are going with Zach Wilson at #2 overall.

Then you throw in the rumor of the Eagles moving up to #3 for Wilson, and then backing out because they knew he would be gone, to just further confirm it.

Nothing is ever 100%. The Jaguars could draft Wilson. The Jets could draft Fields. It would not be crazy, just highly unlikely at the moment.

I think it is more likely the 49ers traded up for Lance. Makes sense to keep Jimmy G and let him learn for a season behind him.

    If that happens:
    1. Trevor Lawrence-Jaguars
    2. Zach Wilson-Jets
    3. Trey Lance-49ers
What do the Falcons do at #4 overall? I think take Justin Fields or trade out to let someone else draft Fields at that spot. We will see. And Mac Jones is the Wild Card.

What if trading up to 2 WAS and still IS an option but JD is demanding 4 1sts and a 2021 2nd? Too rich for 49ers so they 'settled' on 3? Maybe? Do you really think JD would turn down an offer like this if it ever came through, just to draft a 50/50 proposition at QB who's not even the best QB in the draft? Personally I think JD would take a massive offer all day every day, even if he had to roll with Sam in 2021.

Why? Isn't this the first time they've been able to talk to these guys? It's less about what happens in the field at the pro day and more about what happens off the field.

I wouldn't draft a guy who holds the fate of my job in their hands before talking to them.

But also, I didn't say he doesn't know who he's picking. I said he hasn't telegraphed that decision yet in the executive world.

My point is that it would be us dealing with 49ers. Yet the reports are there were not much talks. I just think that given how much SF was willing to give up, if #2 were available, we would have the deal done. Hence I am pretty sure at this time Jets will be picking a QB at #2. I have a feeling it will be Wilson, but Fields is a possibility. I no longer think trading down and building around Sam is a realistic option at this point, though Sam might stay on and even be a starter day one 2021, until the rookie is ready.

No, they have been in contact via Zoom meetings for awhile. He knows who he likes now. And yeah, I think people in the executive world have just connected the dots. Makes too much sense.

He clearly doesn't view Wilson that way. And the 49ers/Jets connections are too strong to just think the 49ers traded with a Jets rival without consulting them about moving to #2. They had a firm "No" and decided to move up to #3 instead.

I agree that the second point makes too much sense. You have a team willing to part with a lot of assets, including #12 overall, and given the connection, if #2 were available, I have to believe the trade would be done for that, and not #3.

On the first point though, yes they talked before, but it's clear all 3 wanted to see Zach in person. Also, his measurements just came out that morning, possibly triggering 49ers trade. I just don't think at the beginning of that day JD and Co were certain of their pick. They may have made up their minds now, but there there wasn't much time to blubber it out yet. Also, Fields Pro day is a few days away. I think their decision will be solidified in the next week or so, but I doubt it was solidified AND leaked before they even saw Zach measure out.

    'Clearly'? Really?

JD has been anything BUT clear when it comes to his plans. Maybe you're clairvoyant? You and Simms should start a new podcast! 'The Clairvoyant Dark Knight and Chris Simms Unbuttoned' ;)

It’s pretty much a done deal. Jets are drafting Wilson. I just wonder if he will still where #1 jersey.

You don't have the details quite right. Mac traded up well before the draft (it was announced on March 17), not during the draft (April 26-28). Connor Hughes told the story on his podcast last week. Mac had sources in the NFL that told him that Gettleman was in love with Barkley and wasn't even taking calls on the #2 pick. He knew that John Elway was infatuated with Sam Darnold, and he feared that Denver would trade up, so he made the deal first. Mac thought there were only two potential FQBs in the draft, Mayfield and Darnold, and he wanted Mayfield, not Darnold, but he knew that he'd get one of them. He had no interest in Allen or Rosen at all.

:DOkay, that made me laugh. Simms and I had similar success in the NFL, so it makes sense.

And I mean if he picks Wilson at #2 overall (which I think he will) then he clearly views him as more than a 50/50 QB.

The Jets are not trading down with the Panthers. If they wanted to trade down and take a QB or take another position, they would have accepted Philly's trade offer.

I'll tell you who JD will draft when I see who the Jets send to watch Fields pro day. They sent Douglas alone to T. Lance pro day. They sent Douglas, Saleh, & Leflore to Wilson's pro day. If they send any less than all three to Field's pro day, the writing will be on the wall that WILSON IS THE MAN

Actually, 50/50 is probably high and only applies if JD sees Zack as an above avg QB. If JD needs Zack to be a top 5 FQB, then that 50/50 drops to about 90/10 (at most).
