Because it's not clearly obvious yet. If he plays like this a few more times - then perhaps you are right. But too much was invested to just give up after 5 games, some of which were not bad. Saleh is preparing for this contingency though by making White #2 and bringing Streveler off practice squad.
Zach cost us the game today (alongside Mann but that's a different convo). Needs to get on his mechanics and the simple things. As soon as he threw the first int, I think mentally he started to rush everything which led to the meltdown. There were several times today where he would've gotten a chunk of rushing yards by scrambling but made a bad pass. I will say that all of the QBs from his draft class last year look very bad -- it's not just with him. There has also definitely been a dearth of good QB play around the league so far this year. It's not just limited to us.
It doesn’t make sense why bad franchises with bad QB situations don’t do this. The NCAA has set it up to the point where there’s plenty of opportunities with the transfer portal and redshirt options for guys to play lots of football and move around to find the right situation. That means that guys like Zappe can come out with 8,000 passing attempts and run a NFL offense.
Because we lost our starting RB (who might be a top 12 back in the whole league) to an ACL tear.... can't expect to give JRob a ton of carries since we just acquired him last week & MC really shouldn't be getting 20 - 25 carries as a workhorse back.
Saleh already said he’s going to give MW a shot. Zach is done in NY after the Bills game. It will be his funeral. He hasn’t show any growth. Saleh should have pulled him. Zach can not see the field.
wow that’s an interesting comment by Saleh for sure maybe the staff wants to make a switch and it’s the ambassador upstairs nixing that
Either Zach is not getting coached up proper... or he is uncoachable. His mechanics and footwork are gawd-awful... and getting worse. I only saw the first half (thanks to work) but I could see right away he was out of sorts. I was shocked to read how little we ran the ball... I'll watch the entire game and see if that was dumb. I'll wager it was. I really thought Zach would be a lot better (and smarter) at this point... his lack of progress is troubling... especially since we seem to be pretty good in every area except his. From what I've read he should have been yanked in the 2nd half... If I was Coach I'd suit up Streveler next week.
Not defending his play at all but… Zach’s interception problems come from him doing stupid stuff like not throwing the ball completely out of bounds or not taking off to just gain 3-4 yards. The second and third interceptions he made today are fixable, very fixable. With that being said, he just has to do it now. Not defending him anymore for that after his 18th game.
The running game wasn't working today. Sometimes, the QB has to make plays and Zach didn't until it was too late.
1) Zach made braindead chucks, 2) the JETS shouldve ran more (especially on the stat sheet) but with the flow of the game it didnt feel stupid 3) coach shouldve had the nuts to make some radical changes 4) JFM penalty was VERY deflating.....
Von Miller is gonna feast on him next week. This bullshit where he runs backwards and tries to weave ALLLL the way around the edge rusher is just brutal. Guys like Miller have seen it all and that makes his job easier. He doesn’t have to collapse the pocket. Stay at home and Wilson will run right into him
It's sad to say but as incompetent as Wilson is, they need to pull the red light green light mechanics they used with Sanchez, no other team would put him back under center He was a huge reach, Douglas needs to cut his loses and try again
The thing is, every QB knows they shouldn't do these things. Actually not doing them in the heat of the moment is another thing entirely, and most QBs can't do that consistently. It seems Zach just can't help but throw bad interceptions unless he completely neuters his entire game by never throwing the ball higher than a receiver's knees like he did at the end of last year.
