yeah legler is dead right about this one, LA. I understand your sentiment, but it is just a fact of life....as bad as it will be if Zach isn't our savior, it is going to feel infinitely worse if one of the other QBs taken after him turns into a HOF'er....that will be a huge black mark against JD....just ask Ryan Pace about all the shit he has gotten (and will continue to get for the rest of his life) for passing on both Mahomes and Watson to take Trubisky....the Trubisky selection wouldn't look nearly as horrific in hindsight if Mahomes and Watson had both sucked too, lol. How the other QBs taken in the same draft class does "matter" to a certain extent. Same goes for the Niners and Shanahan/Lynch if Trey Lance busts out and either Fields or Jones go on to have great careers.
The funny thing is that Trubisky’s numbers are not even that bad and quietly won a lot of games. If Darnold put up similar numbers and won as many games, there probably we would never be a Wilson vs Fields debate among Jets fans. #NegativeFacts
just a matter of opinion but the poster Jets79 said it better than I could earlier in this thread: I HATE QBs wearing the number 1...it just smacks so wrong....all about me me me and not team....and that’s before even talking about how just plain shitty it looks on a football jersey.... The last point he made was good too. With the new "font" in these new ass looking jerseys the Jets have the number 1 looks terrible, its just a damned straight line.
To me, 1 looks too slimming. Great for a WR with burner speed, not great for the guy who is supposed to be the alpha out of a group of 11 guys trying to overcome the other 11 guys. In reality, none of this matters even a single bit but I get why people think 1 is a bad QB number. Purely optics. At least 2 is wide.
number 1 is douchey?? lol so what if it was a kid's number in high school and in college....he can't keep it once he hits the pros even if he wants to bc it has been his number throughout his career well said, Jets79. I agree with everything EXCEPT for your point about QBs wearing the number 1. I kinda like it and think it is cool, haha. You are supposed to be the leader of the team at that position, so why not embrace it/own it in every way you can, esp if it is a number you have worn your entire career.
Individual QBs also affect this....I prefer the teens too, but 7 will always be cool for a QB to wear bc it reminds me of Elway, 9 because it reminds me of McMahon, etc.
Sorry to disappoint. My 74 year old brain could never come up with these guys. Looked it up. Here's a link for more: https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/uniform.cgi?number=2
That 7 always looked different on Elway than it did Ken O’Brien. Maybe it’s because of Kenny’s loose sleeves or oversized shoulder pads.
