This is a good point but his defenses have been bad overall for 4 years and I think the playing with a lead thing prob balances out over that sample size.

Joe Brady would be an awful choice. Anyone can look good with Josh Allen.

Unless he's bringing Josh Allen with him then definitely a huge no.

How did Ken Dorsey look? What an il-informed post.

It is a good idea to interview him though. He's a division rival's offensive coordinator. You take the time to get as much information as you can from him for a competitive edge next year, plus you distract a little from their current playoff run. I hope he gets a 2nd interview even

The same Ken Dorsey that just got fired from the Browns because he got exposed without having Josh Allen?

    Thanks for proving my point.
That's fine but definitely do not hire him.

They are requesting to interview practically anyone and everyone EXCEPT Ben Johnson, the consensus top candidate on the market. Very.....odd

Maybe they’ve been informed through some medium he’d reject it and Woody’s soft ego doesn’t want to be publicly humiliated even more?

    All I got.

A smart organization would realize we havent hired an experienced coach in decades. Gase was the only coach we hired with ANY HC experience in Woody’s entire ownership tenure. Let that sink in. Herm, Mangini, Rex, Toilet Bowls, Gase, and Saleh.

I would rather one of the top tier college head coaches than any name on that pathetic list of zero experience coordinators or failed experience retreads.

This team needs organizational leadership from not just the GM but the HC as well.

It's been widely circulated over the last few days that Johnson prefers to go to a team that has a talented, young franchise QB in place. Bears, Pats and Jags all requesting interviews with him and sounds like there will be mutual interest with all of those.

Would I have liked the Jets to at least try to get him in for an interview? Sure, but I'm also impressed that Woody and the Jets have already made it known that they've moved on from him and have many other viable candidates they're looking into. None of that unknown stuff like the last few times around.

The Jets are being super thorough and transparent with this entire process. I can't knock them for that. Now they just need to pick the right guy(s).

There's a link to a report in the thread about Ben Johnson that said that he let it be known that he wouldn't take the Jets job.

Right but you still should request an interview at the very least and let Ben Johnson decline it if he so chooses. You dont read newspaper speculation and puss away from it

I have a hard time seeing it as thorough if they aren't interviewing a top candidate

There's also this report from Brian Costello that contains the following:
There's no harm in talking to him if he would even take the interview, but I'm OK with them not interviewing him if they don't view him as a fit.

Just admit you made a clown of yourself by bringing Dorsey up

You clearly thought he did a good job and were completely unaware he just got fired two days ago from the Browns.

what I hate is looking at successful teams co-ordinators for candidates - teams are typically successful for two core reasons:

    - having a top tier QB - this is the biggest single contributing factor to a teams success and makes everyone look good - the QB isn't coming with them!
    - having a top tier HC - probably the second biggest single factor - again - the HC isn't coming with them

How many times did you see co-ordinators get picked up from places like the Patriots when Brady was there and how much success did they have?

If you are looking for a co-ordinator that could thrive as a HC then look at teams that have had a modicum of success without having a top 10 QB on the roster.

I mean that is hilarious - EVERY candidate would prefer to go with a team with a young, talented franchise QB in place.

What HC candidate would say "I want to really challenge myself - send me to a team that doesn't have a franchise QB and no plan to get one even though it is the cornerstone of every successful team - in fact to show how metal I am I only want to be interviewed by teams that have nothing at QB, and are in the bottom 5 in cap space, and have a bad defense!"
