I'm already bracing myself for this.

I'm not sure a franchise could make a move that was more idiotic or backwards-looking than this. At that point, they might as well pair him with Riddick as the GM so we can just have ESPN running the Jets. At the very least, that might improve the tone of the coverage that this team sees, at least from the national media. Which, given how the team has been covered over the course of this season, maybe is the goal since it never seems to be about winning actual football games.

I heard woody is going to interview his son for the next GM spot and setup an Xbox with Madden to be the new HC

Actually, there are a few stragglers here who still think Rodgers is the savior and are holding vigils to see when he will rise again. No one, however, has invested in a choir.

The Jets are saving that for a halftime performance commemorating his 500th TD pass.

Exactly. That’s what we were discussing, Finding a good OC if we go with Vrabel. My point was we had one, and fired the wrong guy instead. As always he jumps in the middle of someone else’s thread without continuity.

He'll get exactly what he wants out of the Rex hire on Day 1: winning the press conference.

Sorry. I was not able to invest sufficient time to decipher the linguistic cryptography in the chain of sentence fragments forming the subtopic to which you apparently referred. A simple "too bad we let Mike LaFleur go" would have made things easy enough for even a guy like me to understand. Of course we also must remember that Woody Johnson had plenty of support hereabouts in directing the removal of LaFleur if, in fact, he directed it.

I don't think that you can find anyone here who will argue against the need for finding the right offensive coordinator, although consensus in exactly who that would be will never be had unless the 56 year drought is broken.

Ben Johnson wants nothing to do with this shitshow. The sooner you realize this the better off you are going to be

In retrospect, while watching Hackett, it does seem like MILF was indeed much better, but who wouldn't be? Even Downing actually looks good compared to Hack. Would MILF do any better now though than Downing? I think so, but I am not sure. The problem again points to JD and his inability to build a functional roster offensively. May I remind you how the offense looked at the end of the 2022 season. The Jaguars, Seattle, Miami game was the final stretch of the season. In the games we scored 15 points ... total. In 3 games. 5 ppg average. Did not score more than 6 in a game over final 3 game period. And it was not just Zach, we tried 4 different QBs in that stretch. At the end of the day it comes down to JD. With the roster on offense so comically bad, even if MILF were a good coach, how could we even tell?

Much like what JD did with Sam, there was really no way to properly evaluate MILF as a play caller, and it sure looks awful when not one, not two, but 3 games to end the season your offense is producing 6 points or less. JD is really to thank for this firing no matter who actually called the shot. Really all of them should have been fucking fired then, starting with JD and Bob.

Agreed to an extent, but I don't think the fact that three different journeymen QBs managed to run the offense competently under MLF when they were brought in to relieve Zach Wilson. Flacco, Josh Johnson, and Mike White all looked generally competent when running the offense with MLF at the helm, even at times putting up amazing numbers (ex. Mike White vs. the Bengals). The only one of those QBs who couldn't do anything with that offense was Wilson. I think that, just looking at the time where he had QBs other than Wilson running his offense, I would have loved to have seen what he could have done with an actual QB running things rather than having to rely on a trio of journeymen to showcase what he could actually do as an OC.

It's a very small sample size though. Johnson's also was in garbage time. How did mike White and Flacco look at the end of 2022? While I agree Zach retarded the offense, it still does not prove MILF was any good. Sample size is small, and at the end when people got ready for these QBs they produced between 3 and 6 ppg. Mike White also smartened up and realized he can't just stand like a statue and ignore the hits. Again, it is very possible MILF is good. I just don't know, and that in big part thanks to JD.

I’ll rephrase it. Here is my simple opinion on the subject. We had a good OC and we let him go and kept an idiot HC. It shows how clueless this leadership is. I venture to say the likelihood of getting someone better with the new HC are not very good. Hope I’m wrong.
