Why would you take a pick between the 3rd and 4th rounds in 2015 instead of what the Jets can get now in 2013? The Jets aren't going anywhere next year. Keeping Revis for the year does almost nothing for their competitive chances to actually win a Super Bowl.
the max I would do is very similar, 5 yr/65 million. that's 13 mil a year, more than enough for a corner and would make him the highest paid corner.
thats the short sightedness that has us where we are today. trading revis is the right move for where we are now. get some picks clear the capand start building this team with a vision. not the dart board method we have been using for the last 8 years
to everyone saying 5 yr at x amount of dollars, what makes you believe revis isn't going to start chirping after the first 2 years? he has yet to honor more than 3 years of a contract.
You're probably a nice guy, but that is stupidity at its finest. Nothing surprises me with jets fans. Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using Tapatalk HD
I would agree with you in a perfect world. However Mike T. has left the jets in such terrible cap hell, we can't afford him. In hindsight Tanny should have saved the money for Revis and NEVER given out so much money to Holmes, Sanchez and Harris. But he did, and we screwed now. We CAN"T resign Revis and still field a team around him. Get some draft picks and think twice before forking out HUGE contracts in the future to average players like Harris, Sanchez and Holmes. If we don't trade him now for picks we'll lose him to free agency and get squat.
Why is it then when a player holds out, it is just a business decision, and he needs to think about his future, but when an organization tries to make the same business move by exploring trade options, your speechless?
The Jets have three choices. 1. play out the season and let him walk 2. sign him 3. trade him for picks Number one is foolish. The second choice keeps one of the better players in Jets history with the team. The risk is Revis follows his pattern with holdouts or becomes a bad contract in the later years. Trade him for picks. The picks could setup the Jets for a great run. Downside is nothing comes of the picks.
Yeah, so...I pull 415 off the floor...It's your logic that's in question, so let's stick to the discussion at hand
Among other things trading Revis is gonna leave a huge void on defense, Maybe trade him somewhere for another top DB a first and a second, What if we traded Revis to the Falcons for a first asecond and Assante Sameul?? You get my point not neccasarly Assante but a deal like that, Or a RB,A WR any kind of "player and two picks" type of deal??? Can that work?
The Jets allowed how many points last year with Revis on IR for most of the season? There's no huge void on defense if Revis is traded. The huge void at the moment is that the Jets only have a couple of competent LB's after the cuts shortly to come. They didn't really have highly competent LB's before that but they're down to Harris and maybe McIntyre or Davis after them.

check out Peter King he is a 100% right about this, He calls this trade a "Collasal Error" because of the injury we will bascially give him away. Is there any way to give Revis another year this way we can see if he returns to form then trade him?????To get fair value http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/01/25/profootballtalk-is-trading-revis-even-a-possibility/
No, there's no way to see Revis return to form and then trade him. He is a free agent with no strings attached once 2013 is in the books. The Jets could hold Revis until week 8 and then try to get a better deal from a contender for him. The downside is that the acquiring team would have a much shorter window to get him locked up and they'd get fewer games out of him next season. He'd be worth less to them game 8, proven, than he's likely to be after camp.
I really thought a lot of u know football on here? U never ever trade maybe the greatest CB to play the game. Yes Revis been a asshole holding out and all that shit. But u should never blame a man who way under paid. In this sport u never know when a play maybe ur last one. As for us not giving up many points. We did give up a lot of points to the good O's but we played a lot of sorry ass offense. So that stat is misleading.
Im not sure if anyone saw or heard this but Idzik was interviewed the other day and shed some light on the whole situation... (i dont no how to post videos here) he actually says some intresting stuff and sounds alot more settled down since the press confrence http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/01/25/profootballtalk-idzik-puts-to-rest-revis-rumors/
