Are you on drugs or something? 6 wins is "not a bad team"?

Do you understand that you contradict yourself within 3 sentence span? First you're saying that offense was the problem, then that defense needs to improve. You've gotta be on drugs, and on something pretty potent at that.

Yes the cap situation in 2014 looks good for now. Then you pay Revis the reported 16 mill he wants and things look a bit more tight. Are you really ready to spend 10 to 15 % of the cap on one corner? Revis is the best at his position in the NFL, but sometimes you have to be willing to part with a favorite player for the overall health of the team.

Because (a) Cro is cheaper, (b) Revis will bring more value in the trade (c) Revis will not play for Jets in 2014

Nobody in any draft is a sure thing. However, more picks means greater odds of finding an excellent player.

An excellent player that won't match the type of player Revis is.

If we let Revis go, we have to hope Cro puts out another few years like he did this year and live with Kyle Wilson or get someone else. I'd rather know Revis will shut down his side.

You Revis jock huggers are unbelievably thickheaded. Every post "Sign him", "No Trade", "he's hot", "Let Build around him?! Half of you think we can't draft, now you think we can magically draft to structure the D for Mevis ! Yes MEVI$ - the same f'r who held out twice on us and would now if it didn't extend his contract. "Get rid of Holmes, Sanchez in '14 and all the other big contracts etc..." YOU STILL HAVE TO REPLACE THOSE PLAYERS STUPID. You want to do that with more or less talent? "He takes out the #1's. ", Too bad he can't cover them and the #2's, 3's, 4's, TE's and RB's at the same time. Great job on limiting Brian Hartline! Bravo! "Draft a pass rusher", are you the same idiots yapping about how our offense stinks?! The cap room dictates who we can afford! Not a single one of you have given examples of what you think he deserves. Why? Because you all KNOW it's too much for a CB! Did Revis change his number to 15?

Everyone wonders why the Jets are the laughing stock of the league. Only the Jets would trade their best player because they are afraid they may possibly not be able to sign him. He already said he wants to be a Jet for life.

At this very moment, Revis will not bring more than Cromartie in a trade. Cromartie was 2nd team all-pro this yr, Revis is out rehabbing a serious injury.

While subsequently forcing QBs to throw to lesser receivers, resulting in less big plays/yards. How does no one see this added value?

I think this is the big problem for "keep Revis" crowd. It's NOT "if". Revis will not be a Jets beyond next year. Let me repeat it, maybe it'll sink in:

Derelle Revis will not be a Jet starting 2014.

    Now here are your options:

    1. Keep Revis for 2013.
    Consequences:
    a) Jets still suck in 2013, probably won't make playoffs again.
    b) Revis asks for $15M+ next off-season.
If Jets pay -- there is not enough $$ to upgrade other areas, = Jets suck for another 3-4 years.
If Jets don't pay -- Revis walks & Jets get 3rd-rounder comp pick.

    2. Trade Revis
    Consequences:
    a) Jets still suck in 2013, probably won't make playoffs again.
    b) Additional 2-3 draft picks in varios rounds and/or a utility player, = possibility of re-building and becoming competitive.

    In summary:
Keep Revis = suck for next 4+ years.
Trade Revis = possibility of becoming competitive.

Revis will bring much more than Cromartie. It's not clear the Jets can get a 2nd round pick for Cromartie at this point but that's below the floor for Revis.

The rising interest around the league per article posted earlier today begs to differ with you :)

Both sides are dug in on how they feel, and arguing back and forth is kinda pointless. Nobody is changing how they feel based of of this board.

Also, go look at the effect he had on the game when we were in the playoffs. Look at how poorly Palmer, Rivers, Manning, and Brady played when Revis took out Chad Johnson, Vjax, Wayne, and Welker/Branch. Shutting down one player is ONLY the start of what be brings to the table.

Yeah, right.... And already held out twice to prove how comitted to the Jets he is.

Would you please pull your head out of the sand? Makes intelligent conversation much easier...

I agree it's below the floor for Revis assuming he's healthy, but he isn't. I think people are overvaluing a player's worth who's coming off an ACL injury. That's an extremely risky move for a GM to make IMO.
