Im glad they are setting the bar high. They might not get a 1st and a 2nd (although I would be very happy if they did), but a 1st + 3rd + a player (for example Robert Turbin).
People seem so calm about the idea of trading him. I'm of the belief that if you have a super star you don't trade them, you build around them. I'm gonna be really pissed off if they trade Revis.

A superstar QB, RB or WR... absolutely. A superstar CB that may not even be on your team past this next season where you won't be competing and will be STARTING a rebuild? Not so much.
I would have no objection to a bidding war between several teams, and put the Jets in the proverbial catbird seat for once.
What I don't get about all this is one simple fact. Revis is signed through the 2013 season, as in, the Jets do not have to do ANYTHING AT ALL until next year. Why not let the best CB in football play out his contract, alongside Cromartie after his breakout season, and see what happens? See if he's healthy, worth a big time contract, etc. If he is still the same Revis, then we pay him next offseason. There is NO BENEFIT to trading him now. His value is literally at an ALL TIME LOW compared to ANY other time he has been a pro in this league. Of all the times to even consider trading him, this is the most ridiculous time to do so. Extend him or leave it alone, simple as that. Go resign Landry and lets secure the best secondary in football in 2013. That should be our top priority for THIS offseason. Finding a way to get Landry under the cap.
Bidding war against other teams none of which will offer a 1 and a 2? Imo a 1 and a 2 would be minimum fair value for Revis IF the market was assured he is healthy. This is why the timing is also a bad thing from the Jets' perspective. Every team that will discuss a trade will bring up his current status in rehab as a negative on current value.
They don't need to wait until the regular season. Presumably in the next few months his health status will become more clear.

I disagree with you love. This is a pass happy league, and this dude is the best corner in the league. If he's healthy he's one of the best players in the entire league. You have to find a way to keep him. IMHO.
If he hits free agency, he's as good as gone. A team will blow the Jets out of the water. So the mindset is, either he goes in 2014 and the Jets get nothing, or he goes in 2013 and the Jets get something back.
Good approach of starting high. If nobody bites initially, they'll all line up to make counter offers afterwards.
There is no way of knowing if he will be willing to resign after next season. Revis claims he wants to be a Jet for life, so I say take that chance and do not let him walk a year early for a couple draft picks. The Jets had their chance to trade Revis, now they must keep him. There is simply no way they will get the value of Revis in a trade at this point in his career. No way at all.
IMO, we are at least 3 years away from competing for a SB. With that, a trade of Revis makes sense since we need good players in a variety of positions. I have been a fan since 1970 and I cannot recall a team that has gotten rid of so many of their "star" or very good players because of salary. Riggins, Farrior, Abraham, Johnson, etc.., now Revis. Hopefully, Idzik gets us on the right track.
You're overlooking a couple of things here. 1 - When next season ends, Revis is an unrestricted FA. Jets will only get a 3rd round compensatory pick when he signs elsewhere. If you wanna trade Revis it has to be this offseason. 2 - Revis is coming off surgery. However, the NFL can't see Revis on the field until next season is about to start or some preseason games. By then, teams will have very small time windows to acquire Revis & work him into their defensive schemes. It's either trade Revis when his value is at it's lowest or do not trade him at all. No middle ground.
