Time to do a better job of disguising our blitzes then. We have to do somthing to get to the QB. Perhaps it also had something to do with the cushion that our DBs were giving to the Fish receivers. The short routs were always open.
If you break it down by game...we had no chance to squander a lead to the Jags. They couldnt get a crucial stop against the Pats. We allowed the Titans to do the same...and allowed the dolphins to also. If Im not mistaken we were up by two td's to the Bills. Hey Winston, I get your point. Look around the league yesterday. You had the Redskins who had the Titans dead and buried and lost that game. The Eagles let the Saints get back in it and win. The Bengals couldnt put the Bucs away although they led most of the game. Not sure if you watched Denver at home last night to the Raiders. Shanahan did everything to keep the Raiders around in that game. My point in the above post is that when this season started...I believed the defense would be the one bright spot with this team. They cant be this bad. Im a big EM/MT fan up to now..but when you hire a defensive minded guy to coach a team..and its your offense that is carrying you for 4 out of the first 6 games..thats red flag material as far as Im concerned. What bothers me the most is that we DID blitz the Dolphins during those last two drives. A lot. I dont care whan anyone else says..that wasnt a prevent defense. Those schemes arent working. I know the personal is average at best..but thats not what I believed to be the case coming in to this season.
I don't count the Titans game because Nugent should have put that one away early. That game is on him.
Not sure Dave..but something is wrong..because quite honestly, I was shocked how much we did blitz during those final two drives.
I'm shocked that I missed it! Maybe thats because there was no pressure at all and I was just assuming.
i must admit that this game we just played regardless if it was miami or any other team, we would lose. the defense played well for the first three quarters and held miami to a 50 yd fg attempt and they choked so the defense as a whole won us the game. the offense on the other hand had a bunch of 3 and outs in the 4th qtr and if we do not improve our running game, the entire season is going to be just as exciting like the whoooping we put on miami this week.
I can't wait to watch Miami vs The JETS on Christmas Day, when I visit my family up in New jersey. I wished that we palayed at home so I could ask Santa to put some coal in the Fins stockings and I could be there LIVE to witness it!
Playoff caliber team? The only thing we've consistantly had(except for Jax) is a passing game, that doesn't seem like a Playoff caliber team to me. Hopefully our O-Line will keep improving and Washington and Houston will get the running game going but still we're a long way off. If the Pats win the Division, don't we need at least 10 and not 9 wins to get a Wildcard spot?
Thats not my buddy juncs point...juncs point is that Herm gave EM a playoff caliber team..and now its not performing like a playoff team. Junc likes Herm....Im just stating facts here.
Herm gave EM a playoff caliber team? They were 4-12, not 12-4! I'll say it again.... most of the complaints are based on VERY unrealistic expectations. Fergy AND Mangold need some patience... Mangini and Sutton, and Schotty also need some patince.... they are promising rookies, as Ferguson and Mangold are. If anyone thought that this coaching staff wouold cruise through the year looking like polished veteran coaches.... put the kool aid down. It's spiked. The NE 3-4 defense is NOT an easy one to run, or to learn for the players. This is a complex scheme, with a lot of 5-2 and 4-3 mixed in. Yes, there are a lot of things the Jets aren't doing well right now, but it WAS good enough for a win. You want to be miserable after a win.... be my guest. At least, be grateful for the fact you aren't a Chiefs fan, for cryin out loud! :jets:
lol..now thunder...hope you realize that was sarcasm on my part. I know Herm didnt give EM a playoff caliber team..nor did Herm "leave the Jets better than I found it". I think Junc may disagree with me...Im sure he will respond tomorrow. As far as the team play is concerned...I do agree patience is a virtue. Never once have I complained about Mangold or Ferguson. In fact, the offense as a whole..even with a poor running game..has exceeded expectations...big time. What I cant understand is the lack of pass rush..and Im not talking about rushing 3 or 4. That was not the case in those final drives against the Dolphins. Even in blitz packages, the pass rush is nonexistant. Now Im sure thats something that will be addressed after this season. Just very frustrating right now.
it was posted incorrectly AGAIn that we do not have talent on this team, I said we have playoff caliber talent- I didn't say we were a playoff team but we have playoff caliber talent. W/ a healthy Chad we have one of the best QBs in the game, we have a devleoping OL, we have a very good group of WRs and our running game is improving(Chad has had alot of success w/o a running game so imagine what things will be like if we keep getting beter on the ground). on D we jhave almost the exact same players from 2 years ago in the playoffs where we shut down high powered SD at SD and we held Pitt in check at Pitt. Herm wasn't the GM and wasn't responsible for acquiring talent so this has nothing to do w/ Herm. Again this has nothing to do w/ Herm but we were 4-12 last year b/c of injuries.
We definitely have a problem Against the Titans, Bills and Dolphins each team passed its way back into the game when everyone in the stadium knew the ball was going to be thrown. In those games, opponents have dropped back to pass 59 times in the fourth quarter and the we have only one sack.
my original was the only one worth it, and no one posted in it. From JUNE!!!!! I said Last year was a fluke Chad would start Jets come from nowhere PO's Purple Tigers leap through flaming hoops
