Definitely cannot disagree with the point you make there. Our O-Line is very weak. But, I believe the key point in your comment is 'IF schotty stops getting out coached'. That last part of your comment is a huge problem for us. It is possible Schotty does not know what to do with all the talent he has. I think at times he confuses himself. As I stated in a separate thread, I am very scared for our QB and O-Line this Sunday against the Ravens. Ngata and Suggs might set up a tent and camp out in our back field.
Based on Sanchez's history, when you have to win the football game is pretty much the only time you can rely on him.
And when will Brady stop making stupid rookie mistakes in big games???? Four picks? Red zone picks - pick sixes, picks with a huge lead. You think he would learn by now. All QBs make mistakes and throw interceptions. If Sanchez had the game Brady did against Buffalo, he would be getting ripped to shreds in the press this week. But the Golden Boy can do no wrong and Sanchez, who has been under constant pressure with no running game and awful play calling, is having a good season and is way down the list of problems facing the Jets now (except how to keep him upright and healthy).
Hi fucking larious that people are shitting on Sanchez especially since he has put up great stats this year. He aint Tom Brady, but damned if he's played to that level we come to expect from him this year. You throw more, you'll get intercepted more. That's just reality. I'm really loving him this year.
Instead of blaming Sanchez, I'd like to see how the Jets would be if Sanchez was allowed to call his own plays bc Callahan/Schotty/Moore...all of these great offensive minds working together haven't produced a solid game plan yet this season.
Those yards still count, and he wasn't getting them much last year or in his rookie year. Take a look at how many times he topped 300 yards in previous seasons compared to this season. Hell, I've seen him miss 3-4 yard passes before, so I'm not going to be critical about him actually completing a screen pass that went for a decent amount of yardage.
He's a young QB, with a team who would prefer to run first. He's an inexperienced gun slinger , that's his mentality ( be it good or bad). He'll take chances, make big plays, throw some ill-advised passes.... Part of the maturation process for any QB that comes into the league.
What can I say about Mark in his third year,, To be honest I was waiting for him to really let it fly. And for the most part he is doing that so I cant complain. This last game we really missed our all pro center and it showed on the O-line. I think when Nick is back I might even think of moving Baxter to replace Hunter who is KILLING us and Mark. As for S Greene I am still not sure but I try to believe in him. I have been saying this for a while with the O-line issues we can be 2-3 by the end of 5. I cant blame Mark for this last one, our defense looked awful, JUST AWFUL.
Anybody who faults Schotty has no clue. The receivers broke off their routes to get into those areas as it was an improvised play on Sanchez' part. He looked for the slant or short route in the middle of the field and saw it wasn't there so he rolled right with pressure on him from behind. Receivers absolutely should be rolling towards that side of the field so they have a chance to help the QB and give him some options. The QB is NOT gonna stop and make a risky throw across his body while being chased so the only place the ball could be thrown was in that small area of the field. Receivers got over there to try and make a play to help the QB under pressure. Not on Schotty at all.
He's never played tackle according to his bio so to put him out there would be suicidal. Plus, he would get eaten alive out there. Doesn't have the size or quickness to play that position. If Hunter doesn't improve then you have to put Ducasse in and live with his ups and downs. We know he can run block at least. Give Ducasse lots of TE and RB help on passing downs.
Hey Bookend,, That I agree with, They need extra help and by keeping in the TE and RB will hopefully save Mark's life this game.
I don't think you actually read the posts you are talking about. Did you even watch the game? First and ten deep in Oakland territory. A roll out, no miscues by the OL, no receivers open, he had a clear path to throw it out of bounds. Instead he tries to force it into coverage. He left points on the field, lost the momentum the Jets had going for them, and let Oakland back in the game. It was a total mental breakdown, the kind a third year starter should not be making. Now, where in my post did I say he should never make mistakes? Where did I say he has to play on Brady's level to be acceptable? And of course it was hardly the only mistake he made all game. Only the boneheaded worst one. Is he above criticism? Even if you are correct, which I don't agree, that he is playing appreciably better, that means in your book that he can't be criticized for the kind of INT he threw there?
People arguing that Sanchez isn't a good QB because he still occasionally makes bad throws must have hated Vinny. Vinny was throwing the ball up for grabs after 13 years in the league and the wrong people were coming down with it fairly often. He was also a very good QB. The only recent Jets QB that Sanchez looks bad against in terms of decision-making is Chad and most of us understand that Chad's unwillingness to take chances cost the Jets also from time to time.
I'm shocked he hasn't gotten killed yet. Nine sacks in three games this year. NINE. No O-Line, a shitty running game, and idiotic play-calling and he's still having a fine season. The interceptions even hurt his passer rating, which is 90.9. His accuracy has been excellent, even with the four picks.
Wow, some of you guys are idiots. That was not a bad throw or even a bad decision by Sanchez. If you look at the replay, the ball was where it needed to be and would have been a touchdown had it not been for a great play by the Raiders defender. If you look closely, branch barely arrives just as the ball gets there. and he made a difficult catch, which is never a given for DBs. And what if he had thrown it away and next down was sacked for a 10 yard loss and fumbled? You'd all be saying he should've taken a shot the previous down! If you want to see a poor decision, just look at Brett Favre's final throw as a Packer or his pass in the final seconds of the NFC Championships vs. Saints. And how long had he been in the league when he made those boneheaded throws? Over 10 years. Sanchez's post season stats are better than most elite QBs that ever played the game. Who was it that calmly led the Jets to the game winning FG vs. the Colts in last season's playoffs? Who was it that outplayed Brady in the playoffs? Who was it that nearly led the Jets to one of the biggest comebacks in NFL playoff history in the AFC Championships? That's right, Sanchez! You morons should be celebrating a great player who is living up to his franchise QB billing and not nitpicking every interception he throws.
Big deal. Brady 2 weeks ago threw a 90+ yard pass to Welker for a TD against the Dolphins. He didn't throw the ball 90 yards. It still was added to his 500+ yards for that game. Did they question the fact that he didn't ACTUALLY throw all of those 500 yards?
