On August 9th 2004 the Sox were 10.5 games back and had a record of 60-50. Who here honestly knows what will happen from here on out.

Boston has a ridiculous stretch coming up, if they don't start to hit they could be out of the race completely when the Yankees come to Fenway in 2 weeks....hopefully that's the case

    Fukin LOVE IT!!!!

I caught game 1 @ the stadium and have been loving every bit of this weekend!
The Sweep, a family BBQ, and K-Rod servin up that 4 Bagger!
    WoW, What a weekend.

It ain't how you start the season, it's how you finish it....

We gave the Sox 8 games and they pissed it all away.

How does that song go again?
"How Sweep it is, to be sucked by you....."

Reading this thread after the series is over is funny stuff. Great games by the Yankees. The pitching is freaking awesome now.

And I'm going to say this happily: Cappy, you were right. Those early games were not a sign of anything to come. This is a completely different team than it was back in the first quarter of the season.

Great stuff. I'm most happy about the pitching though. Holy shit it's good.

If people would just realize this from the get go, everything would be so much easier and the world would be a better place.

Yankees have beaten Buehrle, Halladay and Beckett(sort of) all in the same week. That doesn't bode well for any other team in the league.

A-Rod is finally -- FINALLY -- hitting in the clutch! I have been one of his detractors about his timing since becoming a Yankee. Maybe it's the repaired hip. Maybe Kate Hudson gives great victory head. I don't know, but A-Rod is finally getting it done when it counts.

    Fuck the Red Sox.

I was with my college buddies over the weekend, all of which are Red Sox fans. Nothing was nicer than seeing them get all dejected when the Yanks won 3 games in a row.

    "Papelbon should be traded..."
    "Bucholtz sucks..."
    "I hope Smoltz dies..."

These were the same fans saying that acquiring Smolts was "genius"
    "Papelbon is better than Mo"
"Bucholtz has promise to be better than Joba"

Speaking of Bucholtz, doesn't he look like a cancer patient (no offense)? His cheeks are all sunken in and he looks hungry.

I think being on that steroids list may have helped him. His whole time he was with the Yankees he was always worrying about what people think about him, and trying to be perfect. Now that everyone knows he isn't perfect, he's just doing his thing.
