Everybody thought you'd have to trade the farm for Johan Santana, and the Mets got him at a very nice price (at least that's what I remember hearing on BT).
Halladay hasnt had "shoulder troubles"...either way....Im not gonna get too much into this discussion because I dont see him leaving Toronto...and if he does, I really dont see him in NY or Boston
I do hope you understand the smiley's use to mean that I didn't think it was serious. If the trade involves Joba and Hughes, then my answer is absolutely not. You can laugh all you want, but if I wasn't going to give up Hughes and Kennedy for Santana I'd be retarded to give up Joba and Hughes for anyone. Obviously Joba wouldn't be the only piece of the trade, but there's not a snowball's chance in hell I'm giving them Hughes. Period. I really think you overvalue the pen bro. There are a lot of teams interested right now though. No way we fleece them on this. The Angels and Phillies are definitely interested. So are the Mets. Obviously the Yankees and Sox would be in the mix. I'm not sure who else is right now, but there isn't a single playoff contending team that wouldn't be happy to have the chance to at least discuss Halladay. Riccardi's phone must be ringing off the hook. He won't come cheaply. It's just a question of how much are you willing to sacrifice. Halladay is 3 years older than Santana was at the time. The reason Santana was had so cheaply by the Mets is because he was definitely on his way out of town so they wanted to get "something" for him, and the Yankees and Red Sox both walked away from the table. As soon as you take the Yankees and Sox out of a bidding war, the player's asking price plummets. That's not homerism, that's just the way it is. Teams/players love the Yankees and Sox to try to outbid each other. That's why for the first (and possibly only) time ever, I actually respected the Sox for sticking to their guns and walking away with us during the Santana saga. I actually agree with you. I highly doubt he remains in the AL East. Like I said from the start, I was just daydreaming.
Jesus Christ... there is no way -- no way -- the Yankees get Halladay for anything less than Joba, Hughes, Jackson, Montero. And even that would be unlikely to get it done.
DUDE!!! you agreed with me, exactly! Wow. Alio, the reason I was laughing is because you actually said " you would CONSIDER" Joba...wow, arent you generous...you'd CONSIDER giving them someone who has accomplished absolutely nothing in MLB for the best pitcher in baseball. C;mon.
Cappy, I take it by reading your post in the sox thread that Pap made it interesting before getting the save?
Um... what? Tell you what... I'll stop if you stop with your stupid WEPA! bullshit. Yeah, coughed up a run with a 5-3 lead, and got the final out with the tying run on second and the go-ahead run on first.
