I was stretching it a bit when I said the best, but I would definitely put us in the top 5. Hughes Clippard Chamberlain Betances Kennedy Horne Sanchez (if he's healthy, but even then he could definitely be converted to a reliever)
I'm bittersweet about Cairo's good day. He's doing great today, but Torre will probably play him everyday now for a little, which is just beyond dumb.
I don't think it's dumb. He plays with heart. He's far superior to Phelps defensively, and for a #9 guy, he can get a few hits, and make some things happen. Right now, we have nothing better here, so screw it.
Joe told Gator to head out to the mound so he could make the call to the pen himself. Nice job Joe...
Yes! That's it Clip! Now sit the hell down and shut up Joe. If you want to nap, take the opportunity.
And the hits just keep on coming! Let's keep it up. JOE, stay in you seat and let the kid pitch now. This is the chance to rest the pen, and get the kid some real ML experience.
Okay, how about this. Forget fired. Joe needs to be forcibly escorted from any and all MLB activity. WTF?!?! Why is Clippard out? Joe Torre, I F***ING HATE YOU
I can't even tell you how much my blood is BOILING right now. Joe just HAD to get Proctor into the game, no matter what. As a result, another starter goes out far too early and our pen gets taxed unnecessarily. ANYONE who defends Joe Torre at this point has no clue about the game of baseball.
If Phelps was hitting better, we'd say he had heart, too. I don't really believe in heart in baseball that much. And who's to say Cairo has it?
Well, I believe in heart, so I guess that's a big difference. As for Cairo, he plays every opportunity hard. You can see he's constantly got his head in the game. Not to mention, as I agreed with before, I'll always take a good glove over a mediocre bat.
