I'll always take the great fielder over the mediocre offensive hitter.

Which is why I would love to get Teixeira in here. He's the best of both worlds.

Yeah and how exactly are the Rangers just going to hand over Texeria to you? Your not trading hughes so is there really anyone else that you could trade to get him back?

There is plenty we could give. The Yankees have quite possibly the best pitching farm system in baseball. Of course, I sure as hell wouldn't trade much for a half-year rental, but the Yankees have plenty of talent.

    Hughes and...

Clippard? Not projected to be much more than a 3.

I guess you could count Wang since he's young and came up, but beyond that who else do you have?

I'm not trying to be a jerk, but I don't know of any other very highly touted arms on the farm.

Wang certainly doesn't count as a farmhand since he's been in the AL for two+ seasons now.
Their key guys are Hughes, Chamberlain, Betances, and Sanchez. The first one will probably be good. Who knows about the others. They might blow, they might be good.

Nobody asked this, but since I'm here...
Which NY team has the best farmhand? The Yankees best one is Hughes.
The Mets best one is outfielder Fernando Martinez. We probably won't see the latter till the Citi Field days.

I believe Sanchez and Chaimberlain are two of their best after Hughes. Their pick last year, Ian Kennedy, is already on the doorstep to AAA. Fast progress.

Obviously, I wish 10p10 was here to give us the details.

Question to Yankee fans: What great problem would Texiera solve? I thought we made great strides last year moving past this idea that we need to load up on sluggers. Seeing the role of Melky and the options provided by small ball, I figured that we had put aside the constant desire for a big bat. We already have enough big bats. Too much is overkill and the impact of each additional player compacts. Adding a big bat isn't going to solve the core problems we have. It will only add to the one dimentional character of our lineup, and it's out of pure panic.

Once again no they aren't and I don't think Spain,Germany, Italy and England are 3rd world nations. Until Spain went Socialist all 4 were some of our biggest Allies in Iraq.

And Alio I was talking about Duncan not Phillips.....

Yeah and you might want to not come off as so abrasive when you've got no context within which to judge what I say.

I've said over and over that I would only be in favor of a trade for Teixeira if we can somehow steal him.

Considering it's become public information that he's had it out in the clubhouse, and that he's due arbitration, if they can't convince him to extend his deal, he's going to leave undervalued.

That said, it's probably not going to happen. However, he is on my wishlist, and has been for a long time, not just recently. So me saying I would like to have him is nothing new. It just happens that we're suffering at first, and he's possibly available right now, so the conversation is coming up more.

Truth be told, I don't know a lot about the minor league talent. Beyond Clippard and Hughes, I haven't been keeping up with anyone, and I never do. 10P10 was where I got most of my minor league info, but he's been gone for two months now.

Yup, Dye is lazy and doesn't care, unlike Abreu.

    Ugh.

Cano is really getting some clean contact lately. Now if only EVERYONE could do it at the same time.

This ump has a ridiculous strike zone low and away.
