Amazing this team can be so good while having the most inept GM in the history of baseball. Without Cashman and Torre they might have won 13 or 14 championships in a row. http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/news/story?id=5191210
Coming off a WS championship in 09, nothing you say to belittle the job Cashman has done sticks. Also, you only point out the bad moves he makes, never the good. I assume your response will be something like "That's because he's never made any good moves!" or something unfunny and unoriginal like that.
Though it is hard to argue Nick Johnson over Damon and/or Matsui was a good move at this point given that NJ has succumbed to yet another injury. I had no problem with the move, but it was getting cute somewhere we didn't really need to.
Thames needs to stay off the field. I can live with him at the plate. Wynn I can live with in the field, I want to kill him as I watch him hit. He swings the bat like a fairy. I'd opt to find a replacement for Wynn, he clearly is a hole in the lineup.
How can you expect anyone to take you seriously when you post stuff like this? It'd be one thing if you just disagreed with some of Cashman's moves. You don't. You disagree with all of them. You don't analyze whether the move was good. You just say it was bad because it was Cashman making it. In fact, I think you might actually have negative credibility. If someone has zero credibility, one just dismisses what they say. But your track record is so bad with this stuff that when you say something, it's very likely that the complete opposite is true. Like signing Sabathia. Remember how you thought that was a dumb move? You want people to change their opinion of you? Stop bitching after the fact, and start saying what you'd like to have happen before the move happens. Here's Don's highlight reel, for those interested: Hughes, Kennedy, and Joba all suck. Yanks are worse, Sox are better. Damon's a liability! (But I thought we should have re-signed him, Don! What gives?) Yanks sign Sabathia and Burnett and it's a "huge career blow" for Hughes. Cashman is a fool for not trading Hughes. And, my favorite: Sabathia sucks and is "Fat Toad 2".
Is it difficult to comprehend that he won the award? No. But it is still possible to be surprised that there are people like this out there. I mean, we're not just talking Rich Kotite dumb here. We might need a Terri Schiavo Award or something.
hahaha, Terry Schiavo. Who'd you steal a sense of humor from? The other obvious explanation is that its all an act by someone like cakes who is doing it to make you look foolish by taking him so seriously. And BTW, fuck Willie Aybar.
Y'know...John Sterling stikes again! I was in the car when Joba came in and he says "sooner or later, Joba and Mariano are going to give it up." Once again, the Curse of John Sterling strikes!
That's exactly what I was thinking. As soon as he said that I was like "Oh no!" Ah well, what are you going to do? Honestly, I attribute Mo's performance to having way too much rest. He's only pitched a couple times this month. He's always been more effective with regular work. Overall it's hard to be disappointed with this series. Our middle hitters are crushing the ball now. Our starting pitching got a big boost from Mitre, and this is a rotation that didn't exactly need a "boost." Javy had better take this next skipped start as a final warning. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to hear that Cashman is making feeler calls to see if he can swap Vazquez for an outfielder in the NL somewhere. Hopefully yesterday was a good sign with Robertson. Somebody needs to step up as the 7th inning guy. Yesterday aside, you have to believe that at least for this year, Joba is the setup man. Honestly, I have less and less a problem with Winn. Granted, he's not ideal, but he's getting on base a bit and not playing horrid defense. You can't ask for a lot from replacement players, and he's giving us a decent showing. Thames on the other hand I want to punch in the face more often than not. Mack mentioned the Nick Johnson thing. That's mostly how I feel about it. It was getting "too cute" where we didn't need to. There was no reason to dump both Matsui and Damon. I think dropping Matsui bothers me more than Damon, simply because he was big last October and was just told "Thanks and Happy Trails!" It just lacked class, a lot like the way Bernie was treated (and if anyone remembers, I wasn't a big Bernie fan either, but I didn't like the raw deal he got.) It just makes me wonder what the team is going to say to the "Core 4" in the coming years.
I don't know if anyone's looked at how Matsui is performing in Anaheim... but it ain't so hot. I don't see why Javy would need to take this skipped start as a final warning, either. His last start was pretty damn good, remember?
