You want to talk about the past? Ok.... from 1918-2004 the Sox sucked balls. That's pretty easy to do isn't it. It's 2009. The NYY just won the division. Acknowledge this.
Why, is there some shortage of television sets looming in the Boston area? Or a cable outage? I don't think all that much luck will be needed to see a nationally televised game.
What an awesome day yesterday was. Now a week of rest before the second season begins. After a silly insignificant year last year, baseball is right again.
Yes, they did. Congratulations on an excellent regular season and an impressive rebound after looking like shit through June. As soon as the playoffs start this will be irrelevant though and since the '90s winning the divison has become a bit of a moot point in my eyes. I don't know, I would be pretty surprised if it doesn't end up a Sox-Yankees ALCS. The Yanks are most likely gonna steamroll either team from the central and it's scientific law that the Angels always loose to Boston in the playoffs... and they looked like shit their last time at Fenway. And of course once it gets to that point there's no other alternative but for it to go all 7 in a way that manages to somehow emotionally scar both fanbases.
I'm drinking the kool-aid and am gonna say that neither injuries are serious and it's just precautionary to get them some rest. Obviously if they are both seriously hurt they're pretty much fucked.
Well I'm not talking about Lester's injury... just that the Yanks touched him up pretty good before he got hurt.
You are aware that before those last 2.1 IP Lester had posted a 2.70 ERA against the Yankees in 3 starts this year right? And those starts were 6 IP, 2 R; 7 IP, 3 R; and 7 IP; 1 R? And in 7 career starts prior to that he had a 3.12 ERA in 46.1 IP against the Yankees? And his K/9 against them is 10.2 for his career? And his K/BB is barely under 4? Lester's ability to pitch against the Yankees (or in the playoffs in general, where he's posted a 2.25 ERA) is very, very, VERY low on the list of possible concerns for this team.
Wow, and you like to get on my case for not getting jokes? Yes, I'm aware of that, thank you very much. What I was saying - in good fun - was that his confidence in the Sox playoff chances are dependent on a pitcher who was scratched and another who was just lit up (and slightly hurt). Sheesh.
Again, not my fault that you just aren't funny. I'm sure you're good at lots of things, but making jokes apparently isn't one of them. Saying things like "the Yanks have roughed up Lester" hardly leads anyone to believe that you are aware that Lester has performed extremely well against the Yankees over the course of the season and his career.
I thought it was funny, maybe you're just whiny with girly sensibilities. By the way, notice how no one is using obnoxious avatars to assert the Yanks dominance over the Sox in the second half? You know why that is? Cause you're not funny. Period.
Actually that was just a statement of fact. The Yanks hit Lester very, very well last time out. The joke wasn't a ha-ha joke. It was just good-natured ribbing. i.e. Still supremely confident in a Sox vs. Yanks matchup with Beckett allegedly hurt and Lester's last outing being a beatdown? That this needed to be explained to you says more about your sense of humor than it does mine, I think.
