Does Joe actually believe Matsui is a defensive UPGRADE? Sure, Melky is an upgrade over Damon, but Matsui wouldn't be an upgrade over Damon, so overall, it's a downgrade. Joe just likes to tempt fate.
I guess I would rather have Melky n Matsui over Damon n Melky.Your sacrificing something w/ each defensive look, theres not a clear cut better look
How about putting Thompson in for Damon, moving Melky to center, and Thompson to left? Then Matsui stays in as the DH, and we don't even have to lose it. Joe just likes to play around with everything. Rather than just do something sensible, he likes to test fate. He must be fired.
3 outta 4. This is how we need to play the rest of the way. We need to win every series for the rest of the way. Now it's LAA. Come on Yanks. Carry this into the series and beat the snot out of Vlad and his boys. That could be the springboard.
First time in a long long time I can remember the Yankees blowing a lead and still coming back for a win. (I guess if they win that suspended game in Baltimore that would be another one) 80 games left. They need to win 50-55 of them most likely. Certainly not out of the realm of possibility with their second half schedule.
I know it's alot to ask but if we could win this weekends series it will be a major boost w/ the easier sched we have to open the post AS break.
