Never Forget... October 2, 1978 - Yankees, at one point in the season 14 games behind Boston, beat the Red Sox, 5-4 in Fenway Park, in only the second playoff game in American League history.
I root for the Yanks hard, their 8 back in the loss. It will be tough but it certainly not impossible. Optimist? Maybe at times.
I just want to see baseball like this the rest of the year. Even if it is too late, this is the kind of play I want to see from these guys. Fantastic starting pitching, bats that are fully alive, and a solid pen outing. That kid looked really good, but he looks like another guy who needs some of Mo's special tutoring. His offspeed pitch is absolutely nasty, but he is predictable. He throws two 90s and then the offspeed each at bat. You can't do that regularly or you'll get lit up. His movement on every pitch was great though. If he can add another quality pitch to his arsenal, he could be a very nice addition to the pen. Very nice win, but we need an amazing July to get back in this. If we continue to play like we have the past couple nights, it's not too late. If we slip again, we're done. Tomorrow is a huge test. We need to get to Santana early, and Moose needs to have his best stuff. Assure a series win, and Friday doesn't make that big a difference. (Though it would be a big boost to take the series sweep.)
19 straight easy games after the break. What they do there will decide the season. I too thought the season might have been over until they mentioned that post break run last night.
