CC just lost the no-hitter with 2 outs in the 8th. Damn.

Probably for the best. I wasn't too keen on him throwing 130 pitches in his second start of the year.

Some pretty amazing defensive plays in that game, too.

ETA: Oh, and Gardner's final line for the game: 2/4, 2R, 2 RBI, 1 SB.

Girardi said was gonna take him out after Shoppach anyway. I don't doubt him doing it either.

As soft spoken and as much of players coach he is, the guy has balls to make the calls for the team and does it with authority.

You actually think he'd yank him 3 outs away from a no-no? No way.

I don't know if it'd actually have happened, but if he was at 120 pitches, yeah, I could see him trying.

Girardi's job is to set the team up to win games all season and in the postseason... risking overtaxing your #1 starter in his second start of the year isn't the best way to do that.

Yes, I think he would. Girardi is anal about pitch count and clearly has does not give a fuck what anyway says about how he should manage his team.

If it was a perfect game then he would leave him in no doubt.

Young and exciting though they may be, the Rays got no business dressing like the Royals. Brutal.

Oh and for those parties interested, Gardner's final line:

I thought you didn't care what the stats say.

I realize you're just trying to be funny and/or a smartass, but you're missing the point. Even the best players go 0/4. Frequently. But if Gardner was truly as shitty as you're making him out to be, you wouldn't expect to see a line like the one he put yesterday more than a couple of times per season. We can track it game by game if you like, though.

ETA: Just for reference, since Alio likes to compare him to Bubba Crosby... Crosby had a total of five multi-hit games in his 209 career games across four seasons. Gardner had nine in 42 games during his first season, and another thirteen multi-hit games last year. Part of that might be due to Gardner getting more plate appearances per game than Crosby, but there's a reason for that, too.

Oh well. You'll get it someday. Or you won't. No skin off my back, either way.

4-2 against the Rox and Rays? I'll certainly take it. BP has the Angels finishing 4th in their own division this year--they certainly have played it these past couple games -- so hopefully we'll be able to take 2/3 there as well. But again, it's the Angels, so we know how annoying they can be.

Hopefully we get off to a good April. If we do, we probably coast for the whole year. Probably wont be playing meaningful September games

Figgins is gone, though. And so is Vlad. Their pitching is suspect.

I fully expect the Angels to be far less "pesky" than in past years.

I agree about getting through April, though. This is probably the toughest part of their schedule.

Well, it's time to face off against a Vlad-less Angels. But they do have this young, obscure guy, I think his name is Mahsushi or some shit. Supposedly a decent DH who hits home runs. I think he's Greek.

Anyway, when the hell is Granderson going to move into the 2 slot in the lineup? Fuck Nick Johnson. Oh, and I hope Bubba Gardner was watching a talented left fielder this weekend. Especially since he'll be backing him up next year.

Lastly, how about our pitching? CC was obviously a no-brainer, but people were on the fence about Burnett (myself included.) AJ has been paying off though. If only Vasquez didn't drop a stink bomb on the Trop...

Speaking of the Trop, what a shithole. Catwalks turning infield flies into base hits? Really? Hey Joe West, what do you think of that?
