I keep telling myself it was just one game. It was just one series. But it's not. The Yankees have either split or lost something like their last 7 series. We're just getting lucky that the Rays have lost too. They have to pick it up. Girardi was pissed in yesterday's postgame. He's as stupified as everyone else why these guys can't hit people they haven't seen before. He actually said something along the lines of "It's simple, you keep your eye on the ball and you hit it." Which, while it sounds like the return of Captain Obvious, is about as true as it gets.

You can't waste good starts by your rotation. Especially against a guy who has never won at the professional level.

Their last five, but it's not quite as bad as you're making it sound.

    Split at KC. (4 games)
    Split at Texas. (2 games)
    Split vs. Bos. (4 games)
    Lost vs. Toronto (3 games)
    Lost at Tampa (3 games)
    Won at Cleveland (4 games)

They're 10-10 in those 20 games. Five-hundred ball probably ain't gonna get it done*, but they're not tanking, either. Should've won yesterday, though. I hate games like that. Bunch of fukcing hackers.

    * - Actually, it should be noted that .500 ball from here on out will get the Yanks to that mythical "we're damn likely in the playoffs" number of 95 wins.
