Ahhh, you know, I had forgotten Mo had pitched two nights before. I block it out whenever Mo...doesn't...get it...done. It hurt to type that.
I didn't think there was enough interest to start a prospects thread, so here's just a recap of how our top prospects did tonight: AAA Montero: 1-5 2B Laird: 1-3 BB Nunez: 2-4 BB R RBI Nova: 7 IP 1ER 1H 1BB 8K AA Romine: 1-4 Joseph: 1-4 A+ Suttle: 1-3 BB R 2B 3RBI Mesa: 2-4 2R HR 3RBI Betances: 5 IP 1ER 5H 0BB 9K A Heathcott: 3-4 4R 2BB Murphy: 3-6 3R 2HR 9RBI A (SS) Kahnle: 2IP 0R 0H 0BB 4K GCL Culver: 2-4 BB R RBI Flores: 2-4 BB 2B R Sanchez: 1-4 RBI
I've been most psyched to see Betances stay healthy and start to show everyone why a lot of people were so excited about him a few years ago.
brackman has also been having a bounceback year. 2 hard throwing tall ass dudes that have had terrible injury problems.
Derek Jeter SS Nick Swisher RF Mark Teixeira 1B Alex Rodriguez DH Robinson Cano 2B Jorge Posada C Curtis Granderson CF Brett Gardner LF Ramiro Pena 3B
Lots of homers tonight, including 2 by A-Rod. Hopefully he gets hot, he's certainly due for a run. The longest was certainly Jorge Posada's though. He actually cleared the batters eye in center.
http://yankees.lhblogs.com/2010/08/15/postgame-notes-nothing-ever-really-surprises-you/ There is no off position on the Kevin Long genius switch.
So we should (but won't) now read all the articles on how PEDs did nothing for Arod at all. It's pretty obvious they didn't. He still hits 400+ foot HRs at will.
Ugh...I know it's still early, but it looks like AJ Burnett is gonna be Mr. Hyde today. The fact that he was shaking his head as he walked out to start the 2nd inning and promptly hit the first batter near the head bodes poorly.
I'm happy to report that I spoke too soon. It's not often that you see Burnett start off that poorly then right the ship, but he managed to find his curveball and shut KC down. Which makes it stand to reason that the offense would get shut out by Bryan freaking Bullington.
