Now Farnsworth is injured after getting drilled by a line drive. Torre is forced to use Proctor again. Expect 10Pen10 and Aliothefool to be angry.

I said using Farnsworth was a bad idea. If Youkilis hits a two run dinger, then its 14-12 and you bring in Farnsworth after that. You don't bring him in after Myers throws to three batters, and gets two of them out. Does he realize how much he has to stretch this team out over the course of this weekend?

It's all worked out, thankfully. But I didn't like the Farnsworth move at ALL. Especially considering Youkilis and Mo Pena are both dead high fastball hitters.

Looking at who probably can't pitch tomorrow..
    - Proctor
    - Bruney
    - Farnsworth
    - Villone

    That leaves us with
    - Dotel
    - Rivera
    - Myers
    - Beam (if they didn't send him down already)

The only thing that would make tomorrow's pitching situation scarier is if Wright was starting.

Send down Nick Green and bring up Veres again. We need an arm.

We need innings from our Sp tomorrow. But even with our depleted bullpen,it's still better than theirs.

Gonna be awfully hard to pull the guy out of bed and tell him to be ready for a 1:00 game in 12 hours. Where is he right now? Columbus? And where are they playing?

Yeah, you're right. Someone tell Cashman that I'm ready to pitch tomorrow's game. :)

Just because we need innings, doesn't mean we'll get them. You have to remember that Papelbon can most likely go two innings or more as well, being a converted starter. They still have Seanez, Hansen, Declarmen, Breslow and Papelbon left. While they're not all that good, they're still arms that can give them some innings if Beckett sinks (or is it Schilling tomorrow?).

  19. Big win tonight for the boys...alot of clutch hits to go around. Ya can't say enough about what Abreu has done for this line up. He simply finds a way to get on base and it is leading to some big innings.

Good call. Yeah, I was pissed off. I still don't understand why Torre can't let Myers go for a while. Especially on a day like today where you have had to go to the pen so often to begin with, you let the guys pitch who are already in until they get into real trouble.

On the other hand, I do understand too. For once, I couldn't blame Torre for the decision. You have the chance to shut the door on the series right from the start. No matter what, taking the night game assures you of leaving town in first, regardless of the rest of the series. Plus, you have already significantly weakened a battered bullpen for the Sox. You have the chance to go for the neck, and you cut deep.

We got lucky tonight. Ponson is absolute garbage. The only good thing is that he helped save the real rotation today. It looks like we got super lucky with Farnsworth, and it was just a bruise. That's big. I had to swallow back my heart when that ball hit him. He looked fine while finishing off the play, but then by the time everyone met him at the mound, you could tell he was hurt. Seeing him being carried down the steps by Myers just made me hang my head.

All in all, it was some day. I know Sox fans are probably pissed off right now, but I have to give it to them. After the first game, I didn't think they would even come out competitively in the night game. They brought it though. Like I said at the beginning of the thread, both teams should bring it all, and leave it all on the field. I think both teams did that tonight. All in a record setting timeframe too! Funny how this rivalry took the spot from that West Coast rivalry. It's fitting IMO. This is probably the greatest rivalry in sports.

Well, sorry I wasn't around all thread long guys. I was just enjoying the games today. I think I just made up for it. If you managed to read this far, thanks. If not, you aren't seeing this anyway.

I can't wait to see how tired these guys are tomorrow. It's going to be a tough one tomorrow. What's the forecast for Saturday in Boston? I really hope it's not too hot. Neither team can afford for a long drawn out game after today.
