Tough decision tonight. Kamikasi or the Sopranos. Which shall I watch? Only 7 episodes left to kill all of them off and still 15 more Boston-NY games after today. I guess how the game is going after the first hour will be the deciding factor. Sunday night games should be outlawed.

What gets glossed over about the Red Sox signing K-Dice, is that the METS outbidded the Yankees. I don't mean to intervene in a Yankee-BoSox thread (and I DON'T want to give Alio a coronary), but if AROD opts out of his Yankee contract, I believe the Mets will be players. Forbes says they are the 2nd most valuable team in baseball, after the Yankees, at 700,000,000 plus without considering the SNY network. And they are moving into the new Citi-Field.

I don't disagree with that. They will be players and he does like NY. I just wonder how much any team is willing to pay. When is enough enough? Don't think that 700 million is much though. The Yankees are worth 1.2 Billion in that same survey. And the Yankees have YES and they have a new stadium too.

Don - I said the Mets will be players if Arod opts out, which, as you know, I expect. But frankly, I expect the Yankees to prevail in the end, BUT, with a new contract.

With an extention maybe. Never with a new contract. At least not unless Steinbrenner gets involved himself. Which I hope he does. The problem with an extension is this. He still has opt out years after 08 and 09 with the current contract. I'm not sure how that would effect an extension in their minds. I guess it really wouldn't matter. If he leaves after any year they are off the hook for the rest.

My guess is if the Yankees don't do significantly better this year then the past two years then Torre and Cashman are both gone. Steinbrenner reasserts control and that would be a plus for Arod.

Don't underestimate Scot Boras. He gets PAID based on the value of what AROD does. An extension is not in his best interest. He is going to want a NEW contract worth over 250,000,000. Thats his thinking. And if he floats that number in front of AROD, and YOU are AROD, what are you going to do?

This early in the season, no doubt I will Watch baseball at 8, flip over to Sopranos at 9, check score afterward, then Entourage. Hopefully the Yankees can pull this game off though.

No doubt he will. I'm just saying if he does and Arod opts out then Boras had better hope to hell that the Mets or Boston will give him that money because the Yankees will have nothing to do with him at that point. He may end up taking 100 million and be happy he gets it without the Yankees in the bidding. I still say he will end up with more money from the Yankees with an extension then he will ever get from anybody else. He just has to decide if he wants to stay with NY or move on despite the money.

or 6 anyway. which makes me wonder if there is a window where he has to make that opt our decision or if it is anytime after the season ends and before the next one starts. I'm sure there must be, I just wonder how long it is.
