That was the day that led to the 2004 Championship, no question. It sparked the team, and showed that they could beat Rivera. I know Posada wasn't trying to fight last night, my point is that catchers don't take their masks off when they are talking to a batter. What happened after that is when it turned to a fight, and there wasn't time then to take it off.
What i'm getting is Varitek was a bitch to leave his mask on, took a shot at ARod with his MIT:lol: ...Then got put in a headlock and got punched on the head twice...
i think what most people are getting at here with the varitek situation is that if varitek threw the first punch he should ahve done so like a man, without his mask and without his mit. If it was a-rod who threw the first punch then it is understandable for varitek to keep his gear on considering he doesn't have the time to take it off. the fact is that varitek started the actual fist fighting and therefore is considered a pussy cuz he did it with his gear on.
I think most Yankee fans turned this trainwreck off, It's enjoyable because I might earn a cheap win with Okajima with 1/3 of an inning pitched.
What a gutless performance by Moose...Spotted two leads including a 5-3 lead and then he gives up back-2-back bombs... Ya know this outfield is pretty bad...Between Abreu's defense, Matsuis' defense and arm, and Damon's arm, it may be the worst. Thankfully Melky is in there though... But Joseph? Lemme ask you...You bring the infield in with the bases loaded, 1 out, Colvin Crisp at the plate, cool...Why do you shift Melky to play as if Manny is up? STUPIDITY JOE!! I think you actually outdid yourself there... It's time to stop ignoring Jeter's defensive woes...Some of this stuff is routine, especially the Willy Mo squabble, insane. Jeter is hitting great, his defense is well than more below-average... Just a bad game in the field, pitching and defense...Sickening to watch honestly. Ace vs. Ace tomorrow night in the deciding game...
No one has anything to say to how Lowell tried to deck Cano on the DP in the 2nd inning I believe. No big deal b/c he's a Red Sox player right Red Sox fans? If A-Rod done that he would have been perceived as a dirtbag.
I think the main difference was that, earlier in the year, A-Rod threw an elbow at Pedroia's crotch after he got rid of the ball. Lowell trucked Cano before the throw was made
I hate that term in reference to pitchers. Going after two good hitters and getting beat isn't gutless, it's being old and worn down and not having your stuff. Maybe you tag Proctor as gutless, for trying to nibble down and out to everybody with a 97 mph fastball. Walks kill, and you could tell he was afraid to throw inside.
MadDog Chris Russo was right on the WFAN yesterday. Said the Yankees, well Proctor, was stupid for throwing up and in to YouKillUs. Said the Red Sox were going into a sleepwalk and the pitch up and in woke them up. He said this before the game and I think Bosox spirted play yesterday bore this out.
It was typical Moose, he's unreliable when we need him. The key to the game was immediately giving back the 2 run lead on the 2 HRs. After that the defense killed us, Abreu's missplay, cano's bad thopw, jeter's error then melky not being able to get to that ball. Just a horrible game, one we easily should have won but we played like little leaguers.
I was Listening to the Game on the Radio when Cano got Plowed. IMO- That play was worse than what A-Rod did. But yet, Because of the Hatred or Media Hype A-Rod's is considered dirty but This play isn't? Now, if it's gonna be chalked up to "Gritty Baseball" then fine but you can't say one is Dirty because he makes nore Money. It proves how silly this Anti A-Rod mentality has gotten.
Moose is honestly pitching like shit! Like you said, flat out unreliable when we need him... The defense is just bad...The entire outfield when Damon is in Center is the worst in baseball...Jeter is playing horrible, on routine plays, on throws, it's very bad watching him play like this... On Melky, I can't blame him...Torre calls the infield IN for Coco Crisp with bases loaded 1 out. So why shift Melky a few feet in front of the warning track? That's horrible junc, flat out horrible. I don't know if the Yanks easily should of won this, but this is a game that Mussina had with a 2-run lead, and he comes up short again, the Yanks had the game, just not sure if the pen would of held up.
