Take a drink every time Sterling says baseball is strange and/or unpredictable. Take a drink whenever he calls anyone who tries to predict baseball an idiot. Take a drink whenever he completely blows a call (for example, saying "Swisheroo" caught the ball in left field that he dropped, calling routine fly balls home runs, etc.).
You'd be falling-down drunk by the top of the third, and dead of alcohol poisoning by the 7th-inning stretch.
I have no better place to dump this so I thought I would dump it here. Baseball America has Montero as the 6th best prospect in baseball and could end up as player of the year. "6) Jesus Montero, C, Yankees Team: Double-A Trenton (Eastern) Age: 19 Why He's Here: .360/.429/.680 (9-for-25), 2 HR, 2 2B, 9 RBIs, 3 R, 3 BB, 2 SO The Scoop: On the season Montero is hitting .334/.391/.552 in 317 at-bats, with 15 home runs, 63 RBIs and a 28-to-43 walk-to-strikeout ratio. His production stands on its own merits, but just consider the supporting evidence: He's 19, he has caught in 53 of his 84 games played and he has compiled huge numbers in two pitcher-friendly leagues, the Florida State and now the Eastern. If he's got another month in him like the ones that have come before, you may be looking at our Minor League Player of the Year." http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/baseball/more/07/28/hot.prospects/index.html?eref=sihpT1
Granted it was early, but when Teixeira made that catch did anyone else think the night had some real potential for magic?
I thought this had "no hit" magic written on it when Tex made that catch, but I also feel that this team has postseason magic ahead of them, which excites me. The Yankees look the best they have looked in awhile.
Yankees acquired RHP Jason Hirsh from the Rockies for a player to be named. Hirsh is 6-7 record with a 6.66 ERA in 20 games -- 16 starts -- for Triple-A Colorado Springs. The 6-foot-8 right-hander will provide depth for the Yankees
Joba is mashin. He looks great out there... They're obviously going to utilize the innings limit to continue his development... Will they move him to the 8th and flip Hughes into the rotation or what?
Game over. They're just teeing off now. 5-0 in the 9th. Nice start for Joba. Second time in a week that the Rays have been completely shut down.
I'm open to suggestions. Alio, you just never know what's going to happen in this crazy game of baseball. The hot young exciting Rays were victimized for a perfect game last week, and now tonight they get three hits in eight innings. Anyone who says they can predict baseball is just crazy. Anyway, Joba was allowed to go 8, but he's of course not coming out for the bottom of the 9th. Bruney comes in. This is a good spot for him.
