Nah, he's right. Sweeps are somewhat rare. The difference between the best and worst teams in baseball typically isn't that great.

I'm really not trying to come off as a dick, but hoping for a sweep and calling for a sweep is a huge difference. They're both professional teams. I dunno man, it's not outlandish to call for a sweep, but.. I don't know, you can't have THAT high of standards, winning the series? ya, but you expect a sweep or you're just bound to be disappointed.

Hence my ribbing for some Yankees fans extreme confidence / standards.

Yanks have hit a rough patch. These things will happen over the course of a season, multiple times. Not worried.

I said the Os always gear up for us. You can't allow that many baserunners, even to the worst team in the majors with RISP. Eventually it will bite you.

The biggest issue was Hughes having that rough second inning. He pitched out of it (and got some good D,) but it cost him in length. The pen just isn't that deep all of a sudden, so going to it so early really hurt.

The thing that really sucks is that Hughes came out with the lead. He wasn't "great" last night, but except for the 2nd, he pitched well enough to win. Especially with this offense against the Orioles.

Seriously, Winn and Thames have got to go. I've flipped out about guys like Gardner, but at least Gardner isn't freaking retarded. I don't want to hear Wynn slipped. The guy up in the stands threw back Jorge's homer farther than Winn. I'd much rather give the call to a kid in Scranton than these two clowns.

Speaking of Gardner, I'd actually like to see him stay in the 2 spot. Hitting in front of Tex should result in him getting more hittable pitches. Johnson can go fuck himself.

And wow did Granderson plummet back down to Earth. His defense has been nothing short of stellar though, so it's hard to get on his case.

Let's get two of three and head home.

The lawn dart Wynn threw on the play to home was awesome.

I don't think the problem is that they're on the roster. I'd have zero issue with either of them if they were used properly.

Thames is doing what he was brought here to do: mash left-handed pitching. His line for the year so far is sick: .500/.563/.857/1.420. The problem is that Girardi puts him in the field and/or sits the wrong guy (Gardner) in the platoon. That's not maximizing his usefulness. Thames is better off being used as a DH against lefties, or a PH. At the very least, it should be Granderson sitting against a lefty when Thames is in there.

Winn should be a pinch runner/defensive replacement. I guess I understand using Winn last night given his history against Millwood, but still...

The guys from Scranton are better off getting regular ABs in AAA.

When all is said and done Tex will have the better year. I'd keep Teixeira. Then again, I don't play fantasy baseball, so take my advice with a grain of salt.

Ok almost game time. Lineup tonight goes:

    Jeter
    Johnson
    Tex
    A-rod
    Cano
    Posada
    Granderson
    Swisher
    Gardner

    - Unfortunately, the struggling N. Johnson is batting second instead of Gardner

Keep Tex, once he gets going the numbers he begins to post are insane. Plus, I'm pretty sure Morneau is going to the DL, so that may be why they proposed it in the first place. That is a good one though.

Love coming home from work and theres a 5-0 lead, Swish with a triple? Damn was there a misplay in the outfield or something?

Did Posada get injured? That would double suck because he is on my fantasy team...

They said on the air that Posada has a contusion behind his knee. As an old catcher, I can tell you he does not want to put on the shin guards and the strap behind the knee with a bruise there.

Well this game is pretty much a wrap. Hope Posada isn't too badly injured, he is much needed.

Posada is going to be day-to-day. It looks like the Yankees will risk Cervelli getting the starts, with Pena as the emergency backup for now. Hopefully it'll only be a couple days with Jorge.

CC was pretty pissed about getting pulled with 2 outs in the 8th. I think that's what I like most about him. He's an old-school type of pitcher. He wants to pitch 9 every outing. That's a big reason why I've always liked Halladay too.

Anyway, it was nice to see so many guys contribute last night. Even Granderson finally got a hit. Good to see a light workload for the pen after the previous night. Also nice to see Mitre pitch good in one relief inning. As they were talking about, he looks like he's fighting off rust well, which is good since he's the sixth starter. Hopefully we won't need him at all, but it's always nice to be prepared.
