That he struck out guys and got out of jams, and it could of been worse. So instead of being smacked around like usual, he was simply decent tonight...
that he K'd 7 and gave up only 3 runs, compared to how many reached base. While his performance may make some people's hearts stop, he limited damage and kept the Yankees in the game. Making this a trend may cause him problems, but today it wasnt and the Yankees are winning...thats all I ask
In Yankee related news...Melky and Matsui extended their hitting streaks to 12 and 11 games, respectively. Melky batting a nice .275 after his slow start...Damon? .241.
Exactly. He's been garbage the whole year except that start against Boston where he went like 6 innings of great pitching. Tonight, inconsistent to the max, and location a huge problem...And was able to get out of jams and mow down hitters...Decent. But can easily be upgraded.
Give me a fucking break. Luis Vizcaino in for the 8th. Screw you Joe. Bruney is rested and is BETTER than Vizcaino!!! Only Joe can make me mad when the Yanks are winning...
im not going to say that Torre knows what hes doing because Vizciano sent em packing the way he did....i still think hes done
Nice win. I think you guys are going to come around on Viz by the end of the season. He was dominant in ST and early in the year. He got out of sync (due to overuse, maybe?) for awhile... and he was PUTRID during that stretch, no doubt about it... but it seems he's back to his adequate, inning-eating self. What you've seen over the past few weeks is more like what Viz has done during the course of his career than that horrible stretch in May.
I still have ZERO confidence in Vizcaino...I don't trust anybody in the bullpen except Bruney and Rivera. Everyone else is trash.
I don't need to come around on Viz. I was getting upset with him for a while, but earlier in the year I blamed all of the pen's problems on Torre, and that included Vizcaino. The guy can pitch, period. Ever since Mo worked with him, he's even better. I'd put him ahead of Bruney on the list of who should pitch the 8th, except he's a very good 2 inning guy, so putting him in the setup role actually wastes an inning of his usability. I'm a big Viz fan. In order of my confidence level, here are my pen guys: Mo Vizcaino Proctor Bruney (I'd stick Edwar here, but he's still green.) Farnsworth Villone Myers
