I don't deny anything you've said here. As you mentioned, I was just messing around (as a matter of fact, I went back into the post and edited it to add the smiley to make sure it was clear). I've been an AJ guy all year, and that was only the 3rd time this year he's given up more than 4 runs in a game, but damn. That's was ridiculous. Spotted a 13 run lead, and he can't control the White Sox? AJ should get shipped to Scranton. Jeter has been fantastic in the second half. It's funny how often that doesn't get mentioned when other guys, Granderson for example, had a bad first half last year and then blew away the second half to much fanfare. It goes back to what Cappy discussed the other day. Jeter is so often overrated that he's often underrated. I don't know if I'd qualify it as "good reason", as Pete Rose should be in Cooperstown, but I get that it's been an issue since Shoeless Joe's days. The major problem, as you said, is that it's stupid for him to get himself into this situation. Partying with Hollywood dolls is one thing, but blatantly ignoring rules when you've already been warned is another. I despise Selig, but he has a legitimate gripe here. Again, MLB has warned ARod about this specific thing. How much trouble does he think he can get away with? Especially considering the Yankees don't appear to be missing him.
So here you go. Another reason why Major League Baseball isn’t going to do anything about the A-Rod poker game report? There’s no way they can prove anything. For his part, A-Rod has denied it, saying that ”the story contains numerous factual inaccuracies.” What’s more, one of the story’s original sources says that Star Magazine got the story wrong and that A-Rod wasn’t even at the poker game in question. And sure, A-Rod and this source may be lying. But Major League Baseball doesn’t have subpoena power. They can’t investigate this. And even if they had the power to punish Alex Rodriguez if this is were all true, they have no cause to act on such a disputed account. And they won’t. http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2...-source-says-a-rod-wasnt-at-the-game/related/ And it's gambling on baseball that is the big deal, not poker. Like I said before, everybody in baseball gambles on poker. They play during rain delays, they play on planes, they play everywhere and whether it is for dollars or thousands it's all the same thing.
One would think that if he was there, Matt Damon and that faggot Ben Affleck will out him seeing as they are chowders. The truth will surface. For clarification: is it illegal to play poker with your buddies with money on the line? I am under the impression that it's illegal once the house begins takings a percentage of winnings. Please enlighten. Regardless of that, A-Rod is definitely stupid for doing this after being warned.
As you know Donald, MLB often reaches beyond their percieved limits when it comes to issues like this. Gambling is gambling. He's been warned about it, and should it prove to be true, he will be punished. Just accept reality. I know it's difficult for you something, seeing as you live in an alternate reality of your own, but if he did it, he will be punished for it.
Being wrong is kind of an art form for you, isn't it? High stakes gambling with high rollers is a huge difference from a friendly poker game during a rain delay. I don't know why I'm even bothering to type this its so obvious. By participating, pro athletes open themselves up to incurring large financial losses to said high rollers. Pro athletes are also uniquely positioned to affect the outcome of certain sporting events upon which large sums of money are to be wagered. You just don't have players participate in this kind of thing period, because it sets up the possibility of them throwing games to clear their debts.
Nova with a gem. 10 Ks, 0 BB.... AJ Burnett can, as they say, die in a fire. I wish Girardi would grow a set and just say "Burnett's salary is why he's still in the rotation" or, better yet, just take Burnett out of the fuckin' rotation. I know, I know, ain't happening. See you soon, Ivan Nova.
Hey, AJ didn't give up any walks the other night either! Actually, the Yankees didn't give up a single walk as a team in the entire series. That's pretty amazing. As for Nova, it's a travesty that he's going to get the shuttle treatment. He's been the Yankees' best starting pitcher not named Sabathia and maybe even Colon, this year. I just wonder if it would be possible to run a 6-man rotation while keeping CC on his every-5 schedule. Everyone else should be relatively unaffected by the rest, and it may even be beneficial to Colon, Garcia, and maybe even Hughes. I think the bigger issue for the Yankees, and one they never really talk about, is that it would leave the bench pretty short. Sadly Posada and Jones are taking up roster spots that could be better given to others. We could include Cervelli in there too, if we assume that Posada's spot would go to Montero. Then they could have more utility players ready to go. Even worse, Warren has earned the right to get called up, but again, it would overcrowd an already crowded rotation. The sad thing with AJ is that he's pitched fairly well this year. He's even been dominant at times. When he implodes though, it's absolutely spectacular.
