Cocaine openly used at a high stakes poker game and a fight only nearly broke out when a guy didn't pay his 500 grand debt? These guys are pussies

The fact that Hughes and Nova have to fight each other for the last rotation spot is bullshit.

And tonight we are seeing 16.5 million reasons why.

What kind of suspension are we looking at for A-Rod? 10, 20, 50 games?

Burnett has wiped away any memory of his decent first half.

From May 1995-June 2011 Derek Jeter had 2 five-hit games. He has 2 in the last month.

    mikeaxisa Mike Axisa
Jeter since coming off the DL: .333/.380/.495. in ~110 PA.

Hopefully the MLBPA steps in to defend A-Rod and he gets a little slap on the wrist. Let the man play cards FFS. It wouldn't be an MLB season without an A-Rod story.

I don't know. MLB is pretty serious about gambling. With pretty good reason, I have to say. This is a pretty stupid situation for Arod to be getting himself into. The guy has to find some other way to amuse himself with all the extra cash.

Besides the fact that Papelbon isn't the right comparison, the comment was a joke aimed at Cappy.

Also, why did you feel the need to edit my post to remove the capitalization? Kind of strange.

Not only are they serious about gambling, he was specifically told by the commissioner NOT to play in those type of games and did it anyway. Selig is apparently furious about it.

Lost somewhere between 2009 when the initial comment was made and the present day is something called context.

Maybe if people were saying Robertson was the best reliever in baseball after pitching eight major league innings, your joke would have made more sense.

This is the important part of the equation. Only way this stooge does anything significant to Arod is if the Yankees for some reason want to get out from under him.

Nothing will happen to Arod. Granted he plays in higher stakes games but every player in baseball plays in illegal poker games. Any game where money changes hands is illegal. He will have to stop much like Jordan had to stop in his day but there won't be any suspension.

gambling is a huge no-no in MLB. He's been warned before about it and if he did it again, he WILL face consequences, Donald.

I don't recall anyone here claiming Bard was the best in baseball, but he was very good. In terms of stuff he was one of the best in baseball after his first pitch. Besides, is it realy so unreasonable for a fanbase to get excited about a young reliever who throws 100 MPH wth a plus breaking ball?

Not that it matters now, as he has become one of the best in the game. Just like with Ellsbury's power, sometimes scouting takes precedence over stats. He had some of the best stuff in baseball, it was perfectly logical to predict that he'd be one of the best relievers.
