This is just a very bad team right now. They have shown that they can win and win consistently. But they have no fire.
They haven't even done that. Take away one (so far looking pretty flukey) 9 game streak, and they're 10 games under .500. That team is an absolute mess this year, and I still don't fully understand it.
There aren't even any words left to describe this. Sickening? Been there, done that. Disgusting? That was Colorado. Unbelievable? Unfathomable? Maybe if this wasn't a regular occurrance. Our rotation must be fuming. No matter how they pitch, they lose. Now on the post-game they're pushing some blame at Andy. Sorry, that doesn't work for me. WTF is he supposed to do? The only way for him to get a win is to pitch a motherf---ing perfect game! This offense is SHIT. It's a team full of underachievers. And there's no way to fix it. None. There's bats in this lineup that should hit against ANY pitcher in the majors. Matsui, Abreu, Cano a combined ONE FOR TWELVE?!?! F this team. They don't WANT it. And that's going to bring me back to the coaching staff. SOMEONE has to be responsible for this. The ORIOLES new manager is WINNING, and it's not even his permanent job! At what frigging point is someone going to wake up and make a change? Oh screw this. I need a Yankees vacation. I WANT to watch the games, but I just can't keep watching this bullshit. If we were a bad team, I'd be fine. I was in front of the tv the entire 80s. We were BAD. I KNEW we were bad. This team is composed of frigging ALL STARS. How do you continue to LOSE?!?! Whatever, if they don't care, why should I? Go F yourselves Yanks. Call me when you decide to show up for a game.
Why the FUCK can't this team give Andy any run support! It's fucking gross how bad this team is in at least ONE phase of the game every night, they never have a complete game! Defense, bats, starter, bullpen, manager... Always at least one screw up...What a joke.
The fact is, every single franchise, no matter historically successful is gonna have a down year. It could be a team of all stars w/ a limitless payroll w/ an easy schedule(pretty much this year) but eventually what goes up, must come down.
Ai yi yi yi yi:sad: Come on Yanks Honestly I don't want them to fire Torre, if it gets worse and it clearly shows we're out of it he deserves a chance to resign at the end of the year. This could also give us the chance to hopefully get younger at the deadline But I still haven't given up on the season and will continue to watch and pray:beer:
We've had a great run, I won't give up yet but obviously it's going to be difficult to make a postseason run. I can deal w/ 1 bad year as long as it doesn't begin a cycle of bad years.
Is it written somewhere in his contract that Rivera only pitches in the ninth with a lead? Fucking assinine to have demonstrably inferior pitchers come in in tie games on the road time after time only to lose the game. The idea is to maximize wins for the team, not saves for Rivera. its like holding Arod in reserve for an important pinch hitting moment because he's clearly the best hitter. Fire Torre.
I fear that because this organizations way of handling things when they are down is to go sign another big expensive player instead of incorporating youth and keeping the youth up to develope.
This next month to month and a half is going to be a critical time for the future of the Yanks.. It will be a huge mistake for the future if they sacrifice there young pitching prospects to try to make a run this year. They will be much better off sacrificing thios year for the future than the opposite..
And that is the flaw in the current mainstream logic regarding bullpen use and the main idea behind "closer by committee." Use your best reliever at the most important time in the game, which is not always the ninth. Unfortunately, too many in baseball are stuck in the old tradition.
Very very true. However, I think Torre is far more guilty of it than most. Does anyone even remember the last time Mo actually appeared in a game? And yeah, last night it was one thing to bring Proctor in to start the ninth, but Mo should have been warming in the pen the entire time. That inning could have been saved, but Proctor is expected to have a magic arm that never tires. Whether Joe should or should not be blamed for moves like this is inconsequential to me at this point. I honestly feel the Yankees need a different personality in charge of this team. Girardi is just the guy for the job, and I truly believe he could save this season. But if we lose more than another couple games before the break, no manager will have a chance of bringing this team back. The teams at the top (both the division and wild card,) are too damned good to lose enough for us to make up more than a dozen or so games.
