Eh, I don't know. I've watched it a few times, and it's possible they were both talking to the ump. But hey, I'm all for buying their story just to put this to rest and not let it become the focus over AJ's worst implosion yet.

    That I'm happy about it.

    A-Rod back in the lineup.

    Morneau out, Mauer playing first.

Looks like Cuddyer and Nishioka are out.

Minnesota gets more banged up by the day.

I'm really starting to think that Curtis Granderson is the AL MVP.

What a season from this guy.

Gonzo is gonna get it because people are jizzing their pants over his batting average.

I hope I'm wrong because Grandy is probably the best all-around player in baseball this year.

I'd vote for Bautista before either of those two.

You could certainly make a case for Bautista, the dude is straight nasty with the bat. Curtis in addition to having a ridiculous year at the plate has also showed he's one of the best outfielders in baseball AND is a threat with speed on the bases.

I don't know if I'd call him one of the best OFers in baseball. He's an adequate to good CFer who's had a bit of a tough year (that dude has lost more balls in the dome roof or sun than any OFer I can recall).

But really, if you break it down, there's no one having a year like Bautista. Look at this line:

    .318/.459/.652/1.111

That's insane. Over 100 points higher OPS than the next guy. Here's Granderson's line for comparison:

    .281/.375/.594/.969

    and Gonzalez's line:

    .343/.404/.537/.940

    Also very good, but

AJ has to go. When every postgame interview includes the words "I've gotta get better" "My guys are doing their jobs, supporting me, I have to support them" and "Yeah, I made a couple of mistakes they took advantage of" it's time to say enough is enough.

I said in a different thread, but I'll repeat it here: CC, Nova, Hughes. That's my playoff rotation. Screw everyone else, with the possible exception of Garcia who may resume what he was doing when/if he returns. Give me the young guns now and let's see if they can help.

Interestingly, I read that because of injury situations for SWB, the Yankees can bring up Montero after the cutoff and he'd still be eligible for the postseason.
