Yeah, I guess you're right. I should have just left it alone. I think after reading that article yesterday I was just looking for a chance to beat on him. I've just had it with him. Great talent or not, he causes more problems than he solves right now. Joe should probably excuse ARod from speaking to the media, at least for the rest of the year at this point. He needs to fix his problems in time for the playoffs, otherwise he will get booed right out of town.
I feel exactly the same way. It's hard not to like Joe as a person. He cares about his guys. He cares about the organization. He takes no credit for success, and readily takes the blame when things go wrong. He is a class act. That doesn't change the fact that he makes poor decisions during games. He uses some arcane system of formulas to decide when guys play/pitch. When it works, he looks like a genius. When it doesn't he looks like he can't figure out why (that's why I refer to him as the Herm Edwards of the baseball world.) The one thing I will give him is that his guys play for him. Somehow he motivates them to do great things when the odds are against them. I'll admit I've been quite hard on him this year, and he deserves more credit than I am willing to give him at this point. We'll see how he changes my mind next month. I'd be happy to take back everything I've said if he delivers that coveted trophy once again.
I don't think jeter knew who he was hugging, he was just showered w/ beer and champagne and couldn't really see.
He's not the greatest but there's more to being a manager than just the decisions you make in a game and no one complaned about his quirky decisions when they were all working during the dynasty years. The job Joe did this year was incredible and he has been the perfect manager for the yankees since he took over.
