With Pavano and Pettites injury history. You better hope it is only a "low grade" like they are reporting. Hughes might be thrown right into the fire.
Just a case of the Yankees being extra cautious as usual. It's a Grade 1 tear, most teams probably would have him miss a ST start, if that. I have no problem with doing it this way, making sure he doesn't somehow re-tear it and then be out for months.
Wang to start season on DL looks like the yanks rotation is as shaky as the mets http://www.sportsline.com/mlb/story/10085033
I dont need to hype the guy up as the Yankke players and media is doing that fine enough .BUt the Muts have a few young players that are good Lasting Milderege . Unfortanitly hes behind Green so hell sit for awhile but hes going to be speacial ...
Wow, so this is what happens when your entire staff is too old. Oh well, it's going to be another slow April. Like 10P said though, the order doesn't really matter much, especially so early in the year. It does suck looking at Pavano to start the year though. I like winning on Opening Day, sets a good atmosphere, but whatever. I still doubt we see Hughes before the All-Star break anyway. Besides Wang, we're talking about soreness, which is to be expected from guys over the 30 mark. I'm not too impressed by bringing in Jones though. We'll see. Things should be interesting.
I hate to hear this about Wang since we will miss a good 5 starts out of him and that isnt a good thing from the teams best pitcher. On the bright side, at least this means that Karstens will be the 5th starter.
http://yankees.lohudblogs.com/2007/03/25/wang-making-miracle-recovery/ ... maybe we wont miss more than 1 or 2 starts from him.
Like I thought, it's just a case of the Yankees being their super cautious self. A first grade tear isn't really even a tear. He could easily start Opening Day and not hurt himself... but the Yankees never want to take a risk with an injury.
http://www.nj.com/sports/ledger/index.ssf?/base/sports-1/1174800882234580.xml&coll=1&thispage=1 Thank God. I just hope Cashman didn't have to convince Torre or anything, this should have been a no brainer. Now, Henn has to make the team over Villone. Then I'll truly be convinced that the "Bubba/Enrique rule" is gone completely.
Hamstring injuries are very tricky. Even though he feels good throwing now, the next time he runs to first to cover the base it could flare up again. This could really affect his whole season if he isnt careful.
Already talk of moving Abreu??? Will we ever solidify a long-term outfield in this lifetime... I don't have any problems with having Abreu in RF for the next couple of years.
