But then parcells wouldn’t have happened. I always wonder what would have happened if he gave us the years he promised Hess.
Jets won't be elimiated...in fact Jets will be in the running for the scariest team, just not the way we had hoped
A struggle? Yes-too many rookies playing, and in our case, rookies leading said rookies. That said, some of the stars and resent results are staggering.
I have been a Jets fan (from the UK) for 35+ years. Despite the relative lack of success I have always been supportive and optimistic. I have seen every snap of every game either live or since NFL game pass TV was launched and most of the highlights before that. Of course I watched the game Sunday. This is the nadir. The celestial low. The most unsuccessful point. That was so abjectly bad from the very beginning that it is difficult to know where to start. I had genuine hope this off-season that the correct staff had been hired, that the drafting was decent and that the org reporting structure had changed to provide accountability. I thought the Tennessee game represented the green shoots of recovery and showed what the team might be capable of achieving. Now all we have was that shitshow. A surrender and now no quarterback to build around. I had hopes of being competitive whilst a young team learned the ropes. 7-10 would have been acceptable. I now see four more wins maximum but the other bottom feeders Miami (twice), Houston and Jacksonville will equally look at those games against us as winnable themselves and they might well be right. I see no chance at all, literally zero, of winning any others. I am not done but I will not spend $10K (with my sons-in-law) on a week in New York taking in a home game again until there is a substantial improvement.
I dont agree with this premise. I think there's a large gap between expecting to win and getting 50+ hung on you by a dink and dunk rookie. Surely you see that nuance yes?
I think the official hangout thread for whatever game comes after the bye should be the Gon Fishin thread...
I expected the loss. In fact, I expected the asskickin. I didn't think the Pats would drop 50 on our supposed improved defense either. I'm not angry though. I didn't expect the Jets to show up after the bye and they didn't. Its what they do. Its what we've been witness to for years now. If this isn't a wake up call for this CS to make drastic changes, then nothing will. What happened to all the veterans that were on the field? So Mosley was out. QW wasn't. Corey Davis wasn't. The Jets didn't field 22 rookies. Evidently they didn't field any leadership either. Not even on the sidelines. Saleh should have been livid in public after being embarrassed like that. The entire CS should have been throwing cans and bottles and swearing like drunken sailors. Anything to wake these sleeping beauties up. I don't see that happening. No pride in themselves. Nada.. Just going thru the motions basically
Not trying to derail the thread, but Carroll was ass before he landed a HOF QB. He was well on his way to failing with Seattle too.. They gave Matt F'ing Flynn a 3 year 26 million dollar deal before a 3rd round pick in Wilson beat him out. He even said this last night. He would have been long gone and probably back in college if not for Wilson landing in Seattle.
No, the promise was to Hess and died with Hess. That is one of the most cursed junctions in Jets history. For the record I don't think Belichik would have done anything special for the Jets just as I don't think he would have done anything special for the Pats without Tom Brady.
My starting expectations for the team were a max of 5 wins back when we had a healthy Lawson, Becton and a chance McRotten wouldn't be the starter so the overall record hasn't surprised me what has got my goat is that the Patsies played pretty much as you expected they would and we couldn't stop them one bit! My hope was that the team would be competitive early in the games based off solid preperation and scripted plans and then probably fall away as other teams made use of their better, more experienced players and coaches to make adjustments on us and the probability that the inevitable back breaking rookie mistake would come as game time wore on. Being out of the playoff races by haloween is one thing, being out of every game by the end of the first quarter is another!
Geez, when you put it like that, you forget just how long Pete Carroll has been around! He replaced Bruce Coslet here if I recall correctly, and nobody ever heard from him (Coslet) again LOL, But Carroll, yes, you are 100% correct, Carroll has had a long successful career. Obviouisly he found himself at USC. Maybe we need to send Robert Saleh to coach College football for a year or two lol.
