Let me clarify my thoughts about LG, he's being overrated by most draft scouts/gurus. I've seen a lot of people predicting late rd 1 or early 2nd ...which is crazy.

Guy has the perfect size for the 3-4 DE position in the NFL. Right or wrong, the NFL looks at combine #s and production and his #s aren't impressive. How a player is used in a team's system is going to effect their draft status.

I think he might have benefited by staying another year.

I remember you bringing up Vontaze Burfict a few years ago and he's on his way to the bigtime.

I think Cook managed to run pretty well, but I'm not sure that Dowling can pull off an equal performance. I haven't seen anything about Minnifield declaring, but if he does I think he's a better player than Dowling as a corner.

Personally, I've had Dowling as a safety in my rankings for most of the season.

I think he can be a CB with the right team, if not, do what the Saints did with Jenkins.

Minnifield is staying from what I read, it's crazy to think Cook, Dowling, and Minnifield played in the same secondary. That's some major talent, top 25 secondaries back-2-back years...

Interesting, Janoris Jenkins that high? Nate Solder that low? Everyone has been saying Cameron Jordan has been lighting up the Senior Bowl but you dropped him 18 spots?

Cam Jordan's @ 10. Maybe you got him confused with Heyward?

Good stuff WW. I've been starting to gear up for the draft and a lot of it seems to line up with what I've seen so far.

A question with Bowers - do you think he's legit? I've read places that he has a lot of questionable tape from previous years, but I haven't gotten to look at much of him yet.

Bowers is a tremendous talent, but IMO, could be a question mark and a high risk/reward player.

This is gonna sound extremely bad at first glance, but the death of Bower's father was the best thing to happen to his career. It put things in perspective for him and gave him that little push to put everything together and take his game to the next level.

    I understand your POV.

Bowers looks like a terror at times, unblockable and than he falls asleep.

He's a special player and I hope he succeeds.

And just FWIW, this isn't some random thought by me, Clemson DE coach Chris Rumph and Bowers himself said it contributed greatly. Out of tragedy comes triumph...

Another player that has overcome a difficult situation...Robert Quinn, had a brain tumor his senior season of H.S. I wish I could have seen more of a body of work from Quinn this past year. I hope he gets drafted by a 4-3 team and is successful, his talent has no ceiling.

Yep, I remember Saban, among many others, going to see him after the surgery.

Great story, great player. Seems there are a lot this year...

That's not all teams look at when they draft a player. Lawrence Guy has a lot of upside and he's incredibly versatile.

His numbers aren't eye-popping, but they aren't terrible.

I think pro scouts notice the role he played at Arizona State. The defensive scheme was built around Vontaze Burfict and a couple hybrid linebacker. It wasn't Guy's job to get pressure.

I'm not saying he's the perfect player: he needs to get bigger, stronger, and better against the run. That will come in time, because the talent is there.

His numbers will more than likely be very impressive at the combine. He's a beast in the weight room and he's an incredibly athlete for a guy his size.

Lawrence Guy was used as an anchor on the Sun Devils' defensive line. It was a job to keep blockers off of Burfict.

Isn't that what teams want out of a 3-4 end?

Now, there's guys like Fairley, Dareus, Watt, and Jordan that should definitely go before him, but I don't see why he can't be a early-to-mid second rounder.

Guy will be competing with players like Cam Heyward, Corey Liuget, Mo Wilkerson, and Christian Ballard for that fifth spot. Let the battle begin.

We can agree to disagree, I respect your opinion, but I don't believe Guy will sniff round 2, probably round 3. I never said Guy was a terrible player. I was more surprised that he declared and felt he should have stayed another year.

I understand that Guy was the anchor of their line, but if you look up the stats, I believe Zona state gave up around 140+ rushing yards a game.

Guy is a big physical player that would be the perfect 5-technique defensive end in a 3-4. I understand Guy wouldn't have mindboggling stats, but I expected a little more productivity, especially for a player declaring.

Let's see how he performs at the combine, I hope I'm wrong.....I never wish any player ill will, just call it as I see it.

    119 yards a game.

Only fifteen teams gave up less rushing yardage/yards per game than Arizona State.

Only seven teams had a lower average yards per rush against.

I got a stat from the sportexchange as of 10/25 they gave up 150 yard per game.

I'm not questioning Zona State's defense, usually they're at the top of the Pac-Ten. I did see one game Cal ran the ball very well with Vereen.

E...my whole response on LG was directed to Doogie 2 weeks ago. I responded to you a few posts later my feelings about Guy at that time. I thought I made my opinion clear back then, I don't know why you -had to rehash this subject??

I don't expect you to agree with me 100% of the time and I don't believe I'm always right, just give my POV.

I never saw the post I quoted earlier. I was just trying to state my opinion on the kid.

I don't feel like he's overrated at all. He's not being considered with the elite names at the position.

Overrated is just my perception, a few sites and yourself are high on LG, I'm just not convinced he's early 2nd rd material.

LG could a solid rotational guy in the NFL and even the Jets could consider him in Round 3.

Only only saw one Arizona State game last fall and Vereen had just under 100 yards and they gave up 50 points.
