WR is a really hard position to evaluate based on production/on field play. Yes certainly you have to consider the stats, game to game consistency & overall production...but there are alot of factors that can affect a guy's ability to produce. 1.Surrounding cast- If he's the only weapon an offense has..it's easier for the opposition to eliminate him 2.System- Is he being used as a decoy? How diverse is his route tree? 3. QB- Who's throwing him the ball? To properly evaluate these guys you have to be willing to breakdown the boring plays throughout the game when maybe he isn't getting the ball. Is he quick in/out of breaks? Is he getting separation?Does he block down field? Additionally the combine DOES matter for this position. And it isn't the objective measureables ALA 40 times/verticals/broad jumps...It's movement skills. Reiterating those ugly plays on tape. Is he fluid in space? Can he get separation? Can he run every route? Can he explode & finish
I watched this. Ebron looks suspect at run blocking. Now i understand about the mismatches and what not. But he cant block http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8ak0nS3HdM
