He was running hard to make up ground fast after committing to trying to force Favre to make a quick decision after he rolled out and had a lot of time (if you get caught in between he can dump it to the guy behind easily). Plus it's Favre. Who even in the NFL would have expected him to try a spin move? And again it's Favre, he's not the most mobile QB in the NFL (never was), but he's been a guy that moves around very well to avoid sacks. Typical overreaction here.
Calvin Pace not only whiffed on Favre, he got the facemask. Switch those two plays by those two players, and Favre gets a second shot at the 2 point conversion. I just watched a replay of this play actually, and while I'm not a big Gholston critic, in fact I think he's looked pretty good lately and just isn't getting the stats, I'm flabbergasted that he decided to come off his man and run at Favre. Gholston showed some good speed on that play; if he wasn't coming at Favre too fast for Favre to throw it over him, it would've been an easy 2 points, because no way would the safety have made it over to help. I pray Gholston's first sack comes at home, because that might be the hardest and longest the Jets fans will ever cheer.
Yeah I think people are blowing this up because its Gholston (an easy target) The Eric Smith is a much bigger play with much bigger consequences (as it's been noted) and Pace had a whiff as well. Gholston will never live up to his hype or his original contract plain and simple. /end thread
Shit! Didn't realise we lost the game. The fella played ok last night and did alot of things right, but no lets go Gladys bashing once again. His mistake is listed, so now rip the other players that fucked up as well....go on then.
I found it comical how the broadcast team joked about Ghost on the whiff yet didn't rip Farve for missing a wide open player and then throwing a pick that doesn't count. BTW anybody else think it's stupid that doesn't count for anything?
He's got alot of strengths, but his inflexibility is just such a ridiculously huge weakness. So much so, that I'd rather have Jenkins or DeVito in the open field in a one on one like that.
Yeah, I thought it at least counted as an interception even if it didn't make a difference to the play.
Vernon Gholston is a He-man action figure. Big, bulky and muscular but doesn't bend at the elbows or knees.
Worse than this classic? That head fake is just the best and worst athletic move ever somehow combined into one.
Actually, yes. I'm shocked he didn't get injured. Speaking of, how unfair is this world that a guy like Jenkins tears his ACL three times, and Gholston will retire with nothing more than a skinned knee...
