right now the way I see the depth chart personally is (not including smith cause he is on the PUP list) 1) B marsh 2) Decker 3) Enunwa 4) Anderson (he's outplayed all the young WRs) 5) Peake 6) J Marsh 7) Ross 8) Thompkins (he'll get cut this week probably) I think ross is fighting for a spot but I don't think he'll get one. we'll finish with the top 6 and probably carry 7 If smith comes back
I like Peake but how does anyone rank him above Jalin Marshall? Marshall has absolutely been the better player.
The starting H-back should be Enunwa. He is clearly our best option for that position, so i'd rather he just play the majority of his snaps there, leaving more room for other receivers to see the field. I'd like to keep 6 WR's aside from Enunwa. Marshall Decker Peake Anderson Ross J Marshall I'm more comfortable with Ross returning punts this year due to his experience. Rookie punt returners scare me with ball security. It's possible we could keep Thompkins, and try to get J Marshall on the PS, but not sure i'd want to risk it. Would also put Worthy on the PS.
No reason to keep Kenbrell as we would save in cap space plus he would most likely be avl if anyone gets hurt
you may be right. Couple things i need to see from both J Marshall and Anderson against starters though... Marshall is small and Anderson is very slight. will they get pushed around off the LOS? can they contend for the ball, can they block, and can they hold onto passes when hit? if they can prove those things, they will earn their way onto the field a lot more.
Jalin Marshall only had 1 KR during the preseason and made the most of his opportunity with an electrifying 80+ yard return but as far as being a natural/pure receiver, Charone Peake has out played/out performed that of Jalin . Peake: 9 receptions (14 targets), 103 receiving yards (average of 11.44 yards per reception), 24 yards after the catch & 1 TD reception. Jalin: 8 receptions (18 targets), 77 receiving yards (average of 9.62 yards per reception), 14 yards after the catch & 0 TD receptions. I love Jalin Marshall but I'm not sure how anyone could possibly say (as a WR) that Marshall has "absolutely been the better player" thus far throughout preseason; because he hasn't. Peake's without question been the more efficient/more productive one out of the two. The player who's ran away with the WR competition has been none other than Robby Anderson. Robby: 11 receptions (20 targets), 203 receiving yards (average of 18.45 yards per reception), 38 yards after the catch & 2 TD receptions. All 3 of Anderson, Peake & Marshall have flashed but it's been Anderson who's had a "Victor Cruz" type of preseason breakout ranking 1st in receiving yards, 1st in TD receptions, 1st in 1st down receptions, 3rd in receptions and 3rd in average yards per catch (amongst all NFL players). With all that said all 3 of Anderson, Peake & Marshall have outplayed the likes of Ross & Thompkins therefore heading into the season I'm going with... 1.) Brandon Marshall. 2.) Eric Decker. 3.) Quincy Enunwa. 4.) Robby Anderson. 5.) Charone Peake. 6.) Jalin Marshall (KR/PR). This creates for excellent versatility with the likes of Brandon Marshall, Decker, Enunwa, Anderson & Peake all being able to line up on the outside as well as Decker, Enunwa & Jalin Marshall being able to line up on the inside while working out of the slots. Throw in Forte & Powell's ability to catch out of the backfield & Chan Gailey must be licking his chops once thinking about the overall dynamics of this offenses potential in terms of play calling ability as an O.C.
peake is more of a complete WR at this point. Also Peake hasn't dropped balls. Marshall is good for 1-2 drops a game apparently. Until he can catch more reliable I can't rank him above peake. If you need a key 3rd down, you don't want marshall out there on the receiving end at this point.
couldn't have said it better myself! I'm excited to see anderson hit the field in 4WR sets with the starters. He doesn't look like a dime back can cover him very well
WR1: Brandon Marshall (outside). WR2: Eric Decker (slot). WR3: Quincy Enunwa (inside). WR4: Robby Anderson (outside). HB: Matt Forte (catching out of backfield). Good Lord. Good luck to opposing defensive coordinators trying to figure out a systematic scheme to stop that offensive formation (above).
Until they realize a little bit of pressure on Fitz will result in the ball in the bleachers. Sent from my KIW-L24 using Tapatalk
as of now, I'd switch out peake with anderson but yeah i agree. our offense has the potential to be great this year, the only big questions is TE and O-line (more specifically RT)
The sad thing is they may not have to. Fitz may bring the Jets' offense crashing to earth if he doesn't start hitting his receivers. We know he is not gonna hit deep very often.
Fitz has never been an erratic passer. IDK where all these claims of missing WRs is coming from. We had 2 1000 yard Wrs for the first time in like 10 years. Between marshall and decker 189 catches, 2529 yards, 26TDs, 35 catches over 20 yards (1 out of every 5 completions was 20+), 136 1st downs (72% of completions went for first downs), 515 YAC (20% of yards were after the catch) WRs don't get those numbers with erratic QBs
Seriously? Guy, Fitz had a career year last year. Even so, in many categories he was ranked in the bottom 10 of QBs in the NFL. Look at Fitz' career. Have you watched any of the preseason games this year? Fitz has been erratic and missed receivers right and left. He had many bad days in TC.
yes he had a career year. the same like he did in buffalo with chan as his OC. yes he has really good Wrs here the best he's ever had. And he has a good defense so he isn't playing from behind taking risks. He's obviously benefiting from the team around him. nobody denies that. But if you watched him play he was pretty dam accurate. he made a lot of great throws in tight coverage. he stretched the field well. he may not be good at throwing the 60 yard bomb, but we don't really have the WRs for that right now. maybe with peake anderson and smith by the time hack is ready and marshall and decker retire/move on we may have that. But for our talent fitz fits us well and is very accurate for short and mid range passes. he only lacks the deep ball. he's far from erratic.
Maybe we just look at "erratic" differently, but regardless, we'll just have to agree to disagree. He was good last year, but has been very erratic and inaccurate this preseason and for much of his career.
nobody is saying he's aaron rodgers, but he also isn't geno smith or mark sanchez like other people here seem to say. geno and sanchez are erratic, fitz is a solid veteran who can lead this talented team, but he isn't going to make starts of average WRs like a rodgers or peyton manning or tom brady can. luckily we have the best 1-2 combo in the NLF
