I'd like to see us be proactive and go up and grab Mariota/Winston ; Fowler/Ray if indeed that's who we want. Don't let Chip beat us to the punch...And don't be ascared to go for it
No, I didn't. That's your reading of what I said. I'll admit that I have given the Jets too much of my free time, heart and life at times, but they has never been my whole life, not even close. I HAVE been obsessed with the team and let it get to me too much at times, but never for too long.
While that's true, those "dudes" were hardly "stud pass rushers" and they couldn't do it consistently.
Mike Wallace is an interesting name to consider. Miami has to make a decision by March 13th which will be right in the middle of free agent frenzy. I would like him for a 4 year /8mm per deal and then we could cut Harvin. http://mweb.cbssports.com/nfl/write...-sorry-wide-receivers-but-its-a-buyers-market
Wallace kind of seems like he fell off the map for me a little. He had his best years in 2010, 2011 and hasn't broken 1000 yds since. He is still young but I feel like there are much better options out there. If we miss out on Cobb, Marshall, Maclin... then he might be a good option.
I don't see any way the Jets are going after Marshall or Maclin, and maybe not even Cobb. I think Cobb would be the ceiling on what they'd be willing to pay a FA WR.
The way everyone is talking the FA market could look more like the RB market in recent years. I don't think those guys are going to get a huge payday like they have in years past. I actually like Cobb better than Maclin/Marshall and I think he will cost around the same amount. I could be wrong but I think they will all be under 10 mill annually.
I think Maclin will get at least $10 million and maybe more. I think Marshall is more likely to get upwards of $11-12 million per year.
If that is the case which I guess we will find out then I would rather have Cobb at the 9 mill he is asking.
Me too, although I like Maclin a lot. For that matter, I like Marshall's talent, but not his likely price tag. You could be right about the prices they'll get. If so, it would be great to be able to get a Maclin or Marshall for less than $10 million, but I'm still not sure the Jets would sign them. I really think at least based on what Mac has said that first and foremost, they're gonna look for 2 CBs and an OLB. I'm thinking Jackson and Cro or Maxwell and Cro, then maybe McPhee, or Acho or Reed.
Tannehill throws line drives. He has very little trajectory on his ball, no matter what kind of throw he is making. Even his deep throws are line drives. For some reason he doesn't (or can't) throw that lofted / high-arc deep ball (like Big Ben does so well) where the receiver runs full speed under it.
Elite WR's just aren't where you should be putting your money. The current rules get receivers open if you give your QB enough time. Having a elite receiver is a luxury. Put your money where it actually helps your QB or disrupts your opponents QB. O line and D line is where teams should be paying top dollars to. And you never hear stories of the diva guard that takes plays off when they run to the other side.
The conversation was more along the lines of how much those receivers would want but anyway are you saying not to go after a Cobb or Maclin/Marshall? So get who Jacoby Jones and go into the draft needing to draft a WR? Just curious
Right now we have no one that can get him the ball and will probably be to pricey.. It's crazy he's 34, I didn't realize he was that old.. Wasted away so many amazing years while the texans were terrible.
http://www.chicagotribune.com/sport...ndon-marshall-trade-talks-20150305-story.html Now this is interesting, I had not considered trading for Marshall. They may release him anyway but by trading for him you eliminate the competition for him AND he will only cost between 7 or 8 mill under his current contract. If they are going to flat out release him they may be willing to trade him for a 5th or 6th rounder.
