It depends on the other teams need. In some mocks I've seen they have Fowler and Leonard Williams taken earlier then #6 which leaves either a WR or QB sitting there for the Jets. If it turns out Fowler or Williams drop to #6 then it becomes a decision.. do they sit with the pick or pass on them and move down and pick up a free pick to use on Petty etc. Its doubtful Williams drops to #6 and I'm not sold enough on Fowler to take him with #6 if I can still get a very good player and a guy like Petty moving down a bit. It will be interesting to see how it plays out and will give insight into this new regime.

I guess after looking at the way it could play out my feeling is take the WR or QB if they drop to #6. If not then pass on Fowler if there is a trade partner where they feel they can get 3rd & 4th rounder and look to grab someone like Petty early in 3rd.

I think you def have to go by who is OTC - no sense in reaching for pass-rusher if the big 3 in Fowler, Ray and Gregory are off the table. I think I would take Cooper (IMO best receiver) over Brandon Scherff (IMO best offensive lineman) - though that would be a tough decision to make.

Decker, Cooper and Harvin would be one hell of a trio though. Plus insurance in case Decker or Harvin get hurt.

Two ones is better, that way when we play the Pats if Revis locks down Decker we have someone like Marshall on the other side.
A lot of this thread is predicated on Harvin leaving which is inevitable imo since he can simply stand pat with his current deal until we are forced to release him. Any way lets not make this another Percy thread.

If that happens then either Mariota, Cooper, White would be available as Williams is a top 3 pick so I would grab one of them.

For 2015 WR I'd cut and resign Harvin and put him on the outside with Decker. Kerley and Amaro in the slot/ TE. I'd then draft the best stud WR remaining in the 3rd round. Someone big (no slot guy here) that can develop and take over for Harvin in 2 years.

With Harvin on the outside and a 3rd round WR in training, I'd go:

Dante Fowler as our 10 year stud pass rusher to go along with Richardson and MoWilk.

If Fowler is gone, I go with OG Brandon Scherff. O-line problems solved. Start him at RG or RT, groom him for LT.

If Fowler and Scherff are both gone, gotta go Kevin White or Amari Cooper, which would eliminate Harvin.

If Fowler, Scherff, White, and Cooper are all gone, then I'd trade #6 (Mariota) to Philly or some other team willing to pay a kings ransom.

I'm all for this because it's no secret I want Fowler but in this scenario you mention drafting Cooper or White would eliminate Harvin but it can't unless we give up our 4th instead of sixth for nothing. In this case we would have Decker, Cooper/White and Harvin. That's why if Harvin is on the team it would make little sense to draft a WR in round 1.

No concerns that Fowler is 6'2" 260 edge rusher? What happens when he turns into 6'2" 290?

Cooper, White, Fowler, or Beasley, I'd be happy with any one of the four.

Justin Houston is 6'3 258...I heard he was pretty good.

Williams is the best prospect in the draft.

I can't imagine a scenario where he isn't a top 5 pick other than injury or arrest.

Dwayne Bowe can be added to the possible cut list since the Chiefs bringing Houston kills the cap and Bowe counts $11 mill against it.

I think both guys are capable to be the "1" on a game by game basis. If Revis locks up Decker, Harvin can do damage and vice versa.

I think the decision would be easier if Harvin is still around. Take the offensive lineman.

Scherff the best OL? Are you serious? IMO one never takes an OG at as high as #6. The only way I'd take an OG in the top 20, would be if I thought I was one player away from being a SB winner and that one position was OG.

If Mariota and the top 3 pass rushers are off the board, I think WR is probably the best option, although, if the Jets could trade down a little and get either the top ILB prospect or top LT prospect (if one is rated that high, which I'm not sure one will be), I'd be happy with that as well. Beasley's rising up the charts as well, he could possibly be an option at #6, although I don't think I'd take him there.

Its the weight that concerns me, he was listed somewhere at 277 at one point. If he keeps the weight down he could be a very good player but the fact that its fluctuated has to be factored in. If the Jets do pick him lets hope they use him properly, not like what happened with Coples.

I think it's a little ridiculous to say both QBs, white and cooper will all be gone. There are only 5 picks ahead of us you know...

The Raiders will take one of the receivers, the Bucs will go Winston and someone will trade up to 3 or 5 for Mariota. But Leanord Williams is probably the best player in the draft so he'll obviously go top 5. Plus guys like Fowler, Beasley, Danny Shelton and a couple OLBs.

If somehow all 4 of the players you named are taken before us (unlikely) we're going to have our pick of some ridiculous, deep talent on the defensive side of the ball.

Who says he'll go up to 290? I don't like Rex, but he wanted his OLBs around 280.

I think Scherff can play LG / RG / and RT at the next level. If he can have a Zach Martin like impact on the offensive line, I think you take him and not worry about when he was drafted. Scherff is one of the meaner, stronger offensive line prospects I've seen in a while. Of course depends who is available on the clock. If Mariota and the 3 pass-rushers are off the board, Cooper is my guy hands down.

Trading down is always the best option for me. I don't know how I feel about these left tackle prospects, I feel the best one is Humphries from FL is the best LT, but at the same time he came out early, not sure if he's ready for the challenge right away. Flowers looked awful in the combine, Peat is very overrated - he got owned my Nate Orchard (DE - Utah) on a few occasions. Made Peat look silly.
