First of all, its not happening. There is too much talent on the defensive side of the ball for this team to lose that many games. This team had everything go wrong last year and won 6 games. Second, why don't we wait to see what Geno Smith can do before chucking the season. Who knows? By the time the draft winds around in May, Bridgewater may be picked apart by the "experts" and slide down the draft board.
Probably the same reason he's looking for his 4th or 5th team....... He's got talent, but rumor has it he's a primadonna beeotch.
The problem as you said was that we didn't even have average receivers last year ... which was my point.
That was definitely the downfall last year. But health did play a significant part. Hopefully continued development from Kerley & Hill plus better luck health wise will at least get us back to "average",
I'm sure most of you have read the article, same one posted in many places, but I'm going to go ahead and be that guy. http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2013/07/22/jets-reportedly-working-out-wrs-robinson-collie-k-cundiff/ Apparently our beloved franchise has still not ruled out bringing Braylon back, and Kellen Winslow is lobbying for him to come back too. I'm a pretty big Bray supporter, but I haven't voiced it too much. There is already enough good feedback on the board, so I don't speak my mind past a sentence or two very often nowadays, but I think Bray gets too much crap from some people here. It's ridiculous that I've even read here that he is "too old." I mean he's only 30. WR can be productive into their mid 30's. I know he has an injury history, but it's not as risky/serious as Robinson, or Collie, but apparently Idzik would rather have them over him. I guess that shouldn't be a surprise, as Idzik has already had a part (albeit I'm not sure how much say he had) in releasing him quite recently. We need help, and he is worth the vet min. you all know we could get him for. I love this team, and usually support whatever happens, with the exception of keeping Sanchez after 2011, and this past year, but this is one big one that drives me nuts. Not too long ago there was this big debate on who to keep between Cro, Holmes, and Bray. Now that we can have him for nothing, we still aren't signing him, and many people here still hate him like he was a problem, even though his drops were pretty much solved, and he loved being a Jet. We let him go, and he still wants to be here. Hell yeah slam dunk signing... get it the f' done. What does the team honestly have to lose? /rant PS. I'd be cool with Collie or Robinson also...just prefer Bray if I had to make only 1 choice personally.
Braylon Edwards would add something for the Jets as the 3rd or 4th WR. I'm not sure he's got enough left in the tank to be a starter. He'd certainly be a good option in the spread across from Hill to make teams have to cover two big receivers as well as Kerley in the slot and whoever the TE is.
Exactly, and I'm not yelling out for him to be our starter myself. Although I think he could be still. Hill and Holmes both are concerns for good reasons. It's not like we have any kind of strict roster limit right now, so let's take advantage of that! I'm not an expert in system knowledge, but I get the idea he would be a great fit for this offense. That's really just an educated guess though, not trying to run my mouth like a know it all. An opinion by a poster with a greater knowledge of the WCO would be nice.
As said above, Braylon would be nice depth and shouldn't be expected to start if he is willing to accept that role. We can always use him to try and block FGs too.
I still think Braylon is the perfect mentor for Hill. Hill is having similar issues that Edwards had earlier in his career with drops. As someone who overcame it, it would be great, even if he's just a #4 WR.
I didn't even think of the hands issue, but that's a good point. That's just another reason to sign him (for the vet min).
Somebody is getting signed. FWIW Jake Steinburg tweeted that UDFA Nick Edwards from Eastern Washington outperformed both Collie & Robinson at yesterday's workout.
http://www.ganggreennation.com/2013/7/24/4550214/lets-make-a-deal-jeremy-maclin-edition Been a fan of Jeremy Maclin for a while now, underrated. He has good hands, decent route running ability and speed. He's not physical but he can definitely make plays. He's also in the last yr of his contract and should cost at most a 6th rounder. I mentioned Maclin as a potential FA for this upcoming off-season previously. He would be worth that 6th rounder def (Boldin went for a 5th I think) Thoughts?
I like Maclin but I don't want the Jets trading away any of their picks. Anyway what grinds my gears about the Jets is that they go out there way to bolster other positions that aren't needs. Like the corner and dline positions yet they ignore the receiver positions like everything is fine and it annoys me.
