HEy Dumbass, I was referring to the poster above who was talking about Brees before and after he left SD, saying quite clearly if too implicitly for the likes of you that Schotty had held Brees back. Most people who know something about San Diego know that Brees left because he was injured at the end of the 2005 season, and SD pulled the trigger on Rivers rather than hope Brees would come back healthy. But in fact Brees had an excellent year in SD in 2004. Try and follow the discussion.
That's frustrating no doubt but I think that has more to do w/ the QB and I'd rather have a slow starter, fast finisjer than the other way around.
The QB controls the running game and all the associated play calls too? You'd figure in all the 1st quarter drives that failed...against numerous opponents of varying quality...that we'd get ONE drive that the QB had minimal impact on that went in for a score. ONE. Schotty can't even get a consistent running game going. He sucks. But blame Sanchez..after all..he hands the ball off.
Go easy on Schotty, he's a chess master genius setting up for the rest of game. If the Jets consistently run boneheaded incompetent plays in the first quarter, the opponent will drop their guard and allow 5 yard slants to be run in for touchdowns the rest of the game! It's masterful, I Schotty are a genius, MUAHAHAHAHAHA
Yea you gotta love that philosophy. "Jets down 14-0 in the 1st quarter" "Im feeling em out...we have em right where we want em" / Schotty
How often are we down 14-0 in the 1st qtr? I can't recall the last time it happened- I guess it must have been that NE game last year. Don't forget that more often than not we kick off to start the game so that's one less 1st qtr possession we get in most games. We astill should score a little more in the 1st qtr but it's not like we are down 10/14/17-0 every game.
By the way, leads at the end of the 1st qtr: 2009: we led 8 times, trailed 5 and tied 3 2010: 7-6-3 2011: 2-7-2 This is really the first year it's been a problem and it has everything to do w/ the OL and running game struggling.
Not to mention our Defense has gotten off to slow starts more this year then in the past. We used to never give up scores on the first drive and now we are giving up touchdowns.
This defense is exhausted from being on the field due to an inept offense, which has hurt them in finishing off games.
No. We act like the offense is never in a position to let the defense play it's game to it's full potential. You know, returning the favor. ; )
This team is built to play with a lead and leading TOP, where the defense can pin its ears back and unleash on the QB. Hard to do when you're down in the first qtr on a consistent basis.
Losing is not a reason to play worse defense especially in the 1st quarter. Can't use the tired excuse. That just means they are giving up scores early.
