It isn't going to matter. The Jets need much better talent evaluators and a better overall approach to building the defense than we've seen so far. It's not about getting one prime edge or a ball-hawking safety or a good strongside linebacker. It's about matching the scheme to the available talent and then making small transitions from there. Really it's about adding probably a half-dozen young talented players on that side of the ball and then letting the cream rise to the top. They'll probably have to add another few after that in 2023 because injuries and failure to reach potential are real factors in play. Instead we'll draft an edge of some sort, a safety because we have no choice and a strongside LB later in the draft and we'll be shocked, shocked I tell you, when the mess from 2020 and 2021 rolls over into 2022. Douglas has now presided over the worst two defenses in Jet history. If you think a high round edge and a safety are going to fix that... Well, at least the Jets marketing department loves you.
