Jets need OLB, R Tackle WR & safety All are obtainable in the draft This is not the year to trade up except for maybe a OLB pass rusher
This entire scenario is incredibly stupid, and I don't usually call threads stupid. 1) We would have to give up a lot more than our 1st, 2nd and next year's 1st to move up about 20 slots. 2) No OT in this draft is "Munoz/Ogden like"...not even close. Kalil is rated high, IMO, he's overrated and you don't throw away your draft for a RT. The OT's in Rd 1 are average, not a great group. If the Jets want to move up a few spots for Stanford's David Decastro, OG...who can play RT, I would have no problem.
No, for several reasons: 1) we need the picks, we need to get younger in several spots and we have issues at several spots 2) its not our biggest need 3) you dont move up to #2 or #3 unless you are getting a franchise changing player. and a RT isnt a franchise changing player i really hope we draft a safety or middle linebacker
no trade ups, please I believe it's the first time since forever the Jets have had all 7 of their picks just use them wisely as we have, with a few exceptions (vernon) since 2006
I say use the draft to target studs at any cost, your D'Brick, Revis, Greene, Mangold, Dirty, then build your B and C players (back ups basically) through FA. Like that o-lineman with the funny name Tanny just snagged.
This is the year Tanny needs to hit on at least 3-4 picks making solid contributions right away so you need all the picks you can get. No trade ups. Jets desperately need some speed and athleticism at S, LB & WR and another RB wouldn't hurt either. Keep the picks.
glad some of u are not the gm. have u folks watched the hames this year and see what the quality over quantity approach has done to our depth..... we are certainly not a RT away from the SB. sure we have a few studs via prior drafts but we have plenty of razor thin spots that need some young legs. IMO - where the jets need major help (LB, safety, OL, TE, and even RB) - those prospects tend to slide a bit on draft day. the exotic QB, DE/DT, NT, and CB's tend to get the premium spots. so i would stay put and possibly even slip down a bit in any given round - especially if we end up 8-8.
Not if I said drafting Ghoulston and Ducasses was INSANITY, to borrow a line from Estelle Costanza !!! LOL
If an offensive lineman that good was coming out thise year, you'd already know about him. In Brick's draft class, people were talking about the tackles well before bowl season. I'd support a trade up, but not that high. Plus, the Jets need veteran help.
This, and the bolded part is something a lot of people aren't getting lately. The moment the rookie salary scale was instituted, Top 10 draft picks doubled and trebled in value. We'd be giving up at least 3 first rounders and probably more in low rounders to move up that far.
