So, if Sanchez is the Jets longterm answer at QB, what kind of contract extension will the Jets give him?

They extended Pennington with a year to go on his contract, why haven't they done the same for Sanchez?

He has 2 years left on his current deal, he will get a new deal after this season. I think they signed Chad during his final season, If I recall correctly it was early in the 2004 season which was his last under contract.

Because some fans are impatient and others are dumb. [IMG]

    That's why.

What a lovely thread.....for us to poop on.

Let's give Sanchez the rest of his rookie deal to prove that he belongs before giving him the old heave-ho....okay, people?

Who did that? We gave up a second and a few scrubs. The trade was a steal for us. Be factual with your arguments. Stop making shit up.

If we're being factual, you gave up a first and a second for Sanchez. I understand it's semantics, but it's not like you just used a second round pick on him. You also used your first to acquire Sanchez.

We didn't give up a 1st, we exchanged 1st rd picks. We gave up a 2nd rd pick and a few bench players to get him.

You used your 1st and 2nd round pick to acquire Mark Sanchez.

    as nyjunc correctly stated

we exchanged first round picks with the Browns, gave up a second round pick and three scrubs (including hopeless JAG Brett Ratliff) and we got a franchise quarterback...

one of the best trades the jets ever have made

we exchanged 1st rd picks, gave up a 2nd and some backup players. It was essentially for a 2nd rd pick.

  11. That seems kinda short sighted and bias, don't you think? If you're going to blame every Jet loss on Sanchez, doesn't he deserve credit when the team wins?

As for your Trent Edwards comment: How many playoff games did Trent play in let alone win?

do me a favor and look up his #s in garbage time. He's NOT a stat padder, when things are going bad and we are being beat big or up big he doesn't put up #s. This is why he is so underrated, most QBs pad their stats and confused people who only look at boxscores think these QBs are better than they actually are.

I have to feel sorry for Catt County

he was all pumped up on Mark Fitzharvard before his Buffoonalo Bills met the Jets for the first time

after Mark Sanchez and the Jets crushed his pretenders TWICE making Fitzharvard look like the 51 million dollar mistake he is, Catt County strangely disappeared for the rest of the season

but for some reason he's back again..

  15. The same reason that we're seeing all the Phins and Pat fans. This is the first time they've been able to pounce on us in 2 years. With the delicate state of the fan base after a disappointing year, they can get away with more bullshit by appearing diplomatic. It's garbage and it's time they get called out on it.

I can understand this logic, and can't disagree.

However, wouldn't you think that on the same premise, it is a far larger indictment of the Colts' outlook on Peyton Manning's health that they are cleaning house and letting him walk so soon after giving him a new deal?

Andrew Luck aside, you are dumping a first ballot Hall Of Fame player and getting nothing in return but an accelerated cap hit.

Franchise Quarterback should really be reserved for players who are at the very least above league average.

If Sanchez is a "franchise" quarterback than so are 15-20 other guys, plus likely at least 2 guys drafted this year.

Based on what was he well above average? Wishful thinking?
    Rating: 27th
    Pct-29th
    YPG-25th
    YPA- 26th
    1st down%- 24th
    TD thrown- 19th
    INT - 13th

He was below average in every one of those categories, Well below average in most.

stats do not tell the stroy, his #s were much better across the board this year yet he was much worse. He led us to 4-5 comeback wins, he made big plays almost weekly to help us win. He was really good, I hate that it's all about meeaningless fantasy #s w/ fans.
